Here’s to our health care hero’s!!! Providing additional support and decompression in various areas of the back to a full-time fourth year nursing student experiencing pain throughout her trapezius and lower back. We applied a stability application to the right shoulder blade to provide relief in her latissimus dorsi and trapezius muscle while also including a decompression application beneath the scapula where she experiences pain and discomfort. Furthermore we assisted th...e neck and upper shoulder from compensation of the right scapula as well as the lower back. #healthcareheros #nursingstudent #nursing #equinerehab #equinerehabtherapy #equitape #muscletaping #1OAKeqrehab #equineanatomy #equinephysiology #equinemuscles #equinerehabilitation #vettechstudent #vetstudent #rehabilitationtherapist #horsecare #quarterhorse #performancehorse #barrelracing #equinemuscletape #equitapeadvantage

Does anyone else’s horse exercise on a hot walker? There are numerous benefits to these walkers that can help improve and maintain your horses optimal health. Young, retired, or horses recovering from an injury can benefit from this machine as they are being exercised on a flat and even surface at a controlled speed. These sessions are timed according to the horses needs and can be used for warming up and cooling down.

I want to give a huge shout-out to the family that has put their blood, sweat and tears into getting this mare healed and feeling like her old self. Blaze experienced an injury last October where a foreign object (still unsure) blew out of her fetlock causing an open sore to occur. After 9 months, we are still working on cleaning and debriding this wound as it keeps healing in a slow but progressive manner. This family has been so beyond dedicated every day to ensure that this mare doesn’t contract an infection during the healing process, as well as staying healthy and feeling her very best. I am happy to have played a small role in this mare’s recovery process but this family deserves all the credit! Again, way to go Lisa Nelson, Cadance Nelson, and Gary Nelson on all your hard work!

Hey everyone!!! As promised here is the video discussing the various muscles found in the horse’s body as well as their functions If you found this video helpful, feel free to add a suggestion for future videos in the comments section. Is there something specific that you would like to learn about? Let us know!!! ... Again, no horses were harmed in the making of this educational experience. We used child-safe washable paint on this mare which was rinsed off immediately after taking a few photos and videos. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions in regards to your horse’s well-being or schedule an appointment with us today!! #1OAKeqrehab #1OAKstables #equineanatomy #horseanatomy #equinephysiology #equinemuscles #equinemassage #equinerehabilitation #horsecare #vettechstudent #vetstudent #rehabilitationtherapist #quarterhorse #performancehorse #equinephysio @ 1 OAK Stables

Does anyone else LOVE anatomy & physiology?!?? I know I do Anatomy can be defined as the study of form and structure (what things look like and where they are located) while physiology is the study of function (how things work and what they do). Within this line of work, it’s extremely important to have a good understanding of equine anatomy and physiology in order to properly asses the animal and come up with an appropriate treatment plan. The muscular system is extremely... important with many functions such as production of movement, maintenance of posture, and thermogenesis. When a horses muscles are properly taken care of, they will experience less muscle tension, soreness, fatigue, and have an overall improvement in range of motion and performance. STAY TUNED We will soon be releasing a short video discussing the various muscles found in the horse as well as their functions!! Furthermore, no horses were harmed in the making of this educational experience. We used child-safe washable paint on this mare which was rinsed off immediately after taking a few photos and videos. Equi-tape circulation application was applied to the left carpus to reduce swelling and edema by increasing blood and lymph flow to the area Sometimes horses come out of the pasture with injuries that make us scratch our heads wondering what they got into. Muscle tape has many great benefits and is an excellent tool for both therapy and training. Message us to book an appointment today! #equitape #muscletape #equinerehab #equinerehabilitation #vettechstudent #lovemyjob #quarterhorse

Sometimes you gotta look at things with a different perspective. Foaling season is in the air and can be an exciting time for any stable! The gestation period in horses lasts roughly 340 days or 11 months from their breeding date but it is not uncommon for foals to be several weeks late. This mare was due on March 30th and is still not showing many signs of parturition. Some things that I like to look at to help me ID whether a mare is close to foaling is how well she is bagging up (how full her udder is), and the muscle tone around her vulva and hips. The muscles in her pelvic region will begin to relax and be a little bouncy when she’s ready to foal. So when do you guys think she’ll have her foal? Also do you think it will be a colt or filly?!

Sometimes you have to sit on the ground in the freezing cold, day after day and do whatever it takes to get your horse healed and feeling 100% Never forget that with any discipline, the horse always comes first Here we have combined a circulation application with Equi-Tape along with PEMF Magna Wave therapy to increase circulation/blood flow to a wound on the lateral side of the fetlock.
