We are happy to announce that the new COLONELS COMMANDANT AND NATIONAL PRESIDENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP is now offered to Army Cadets pursuing post-secondary education. A minimum of five (5) scholarships will be presented annually. Each scholarship shall have a minimum value of $1,000. The National Office is now accepting applications for this scholarship until March 31st. Commander's Update

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Minister of Veterans Affairs (MVA) Commendation We share the following message from Mr. Robert Löken, National Manager, Honours, Awards an...d Commemoration, Veteran's Affairs Canada: Every year, many Canadians of different backgrounds and ages provide great service to Veterans. Others make remarkable efforts to promote or create commemoration initiatives. Many commit time to both. The Minister of Veterans Affairs (MVA) Commendation exists to recognize the work of these individuals. Over the past 19 years, many recipients have been honoured with this Commendation for their significant and sustained voluntary contributions to Veterans. I am reaching out to Cadet leaders, as many of our young leaders have, or know someone who has made a difference for Veterans. Take a look at Sean Black’s (see photo) or Faith Idyll Dickinson’s citations for great examples of young recipients. I invite you to share this information with leaders across the different Corps and help us raise awareness with Cadets so they may be able to reward their deserving peers with this great award. Details on the selection process are available at veterans.gc.ca. Nominations for 2021 will be accepted until 28 February 2021, but nominations can be submitted later for 2022.

Save the date. We’ve started planning for spring break and will be offering an exciting opportunity for cadets known as the Cadet Activity Program, or CAP for ...short, in spring 2021. CAP will be five days of exciting activities beyond what is offered at the local corps/squadron close to home with no overnight component while following all public health measures. Local staff and staff cadets will be needed to supervise and deliver this training, so mark your calendars and get ready for a week of fun close to home! Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

Army Cadets in grades 10 through 12 are now eligible for an award through their respective schools. The award is the "Army Cadet Award sponsored by 2313 Support Committee." Along with this award is a cash prize: Grade 10 - $75 Grade 11 - $150 Grade 12 - $300 It is incumbent upon the cadet to put their name forward to be eligible for this prize. For those of you who put an order in for family and friends we need confirmation by Wednesday with the name and what that person ordered if they are intending to pick up from the armoury. We will not release any product if that person's name has not been communicated to us.
