The focus on this story continues to interest/baffle me. Text marketing is a common voter contact tool across party lines; in fact, the Saskatchewan NDP was doing this back in 2017. Here's the deal: despite tweets from members of the media or people that won't support whichever party is doing the texting, IT WORKS! Texting very quickly identifies supporters and at the end of the day that's all that's needed in an election (besides getting those people out to vote, of course). I say let's text MORE!

This is very interesting. Biden is taking advantage of the moment, while the Trump campaign appears to be stuck on what their message should be as Black Lives Matters, COVID-19, and an ailing economy continues.

Great blog post by Directwest. Paid advertising or otherwise, too many organizations and public figures have decided to "go dark" during COVID-19, and that decision has hurt them now and it will hurt them further down the line.

Yikes! "Regina Beach Mayor Wayne Romphf declined a phone interview with the Leader-Post. We dont talk to the press. Weve had very bad experiences with them, he said." Talking to the media is not something to be afraid of, and it's especially important for all elected officials. However, it's understandable that past negative experiences can make speaking to the media challenging. I work with clients that need help with media relations: sending out press releases and statements, fielding media requests, preparing clients to speak to the media, and helping them to understand how newsrooms and reporters work!

If you have an email list - big or small - use it! During COVID-19 we are continuing to help clients use their email marketing lists to reach supporters and check in on them, advocate for issues, and even raise a bit of money.

It was great to help my friends The Everyday Kitchen get a bit of media coverage as they announced they will donate ALL profits to Regina charities and small businesses in the coming weeks!

Exceptional fundraising results for Andrew Yang's upstart campaign. This is the result when you have an authentic candidate with new and innovative ideas, and a very strong digital fundraising and advocacy effort.

Another example of a simple, clear campaign message that Boris Johnson and the Conservatives said repeatedly. That's how you win elections.

Facebook Ads are critical for any political campaign. Did they work for Saskatchewan candidates in the recent federal election? FIND OUT

Some insight on American politics: If you want to get a sense of who has momentum in the Democratic Party primaries, consider how much the candidates are spending on Facebook Advertising. More importantly, check out how much the candidates have spent in the past week - the more spent, the more momentum they have: Pete Buttigieg: $269,000 in last week Bernie Sanders: $206,000 in last week Elizabeth Warren: $177,000 in last week Andrew Yang: $63,000 in last ...week Joe Biden: $62,000 in last week Kamala Harris: $5,800 in last week See more

How many times have you been shown ads on Facebook that are just not relevant to you? Well, heres a recent ad from USask Alumni that targeted everything perfectly! Lets review: Im a University of Saskatchewan alum. I live in Regina currently. ... I was shown the ad at the perfect time...not too far in advance and not after the event was over. Well done, USask Alumni! Do you need help with Facebook or other digital ads? I can help! Hit the messages or email [email protected] - Dale

This is very interesting. News reports from the end of September noted that the Liberal Party of Canada | Parti libéral du Canada had significantly outspent the Conservative Party of Canada - Parti conservateur du Canada on Facebook Advertising in the first month of the campaign. However, with the CPC apparently backloading their ad spend to the final, critical days of the campaign, they have now significantly outspent the Liberals on Facebook since June, and outspent them by over $100,000 in the last week alone! More analysis on this after the election!

I've been wondering which political party would take the leap into Facebook Messenger bots this election...and it appears the Liberal Party of Canada | Parti libéral du Canada is the one to do it. Messenger ads, in my opinion, are one of the most innovative tools political parties and candidates should be using right now. Why are Messenger Ads effective? - A great GOTV tool (as good or better than texting, and far better than email blasts) - Messenger ads segment users based ...on responses (in this case their support for Justin Trudeau and policy issues), and then target them with messaging tailored to their responses. - Messenger ads target users based on location. Users that respond with their city/postal code can be tagged, and then sent targeted messages based on where they live. - Messenger ads are COST EFFECTIVE for parties and candidates. Ideal for campaigns when budgets are tight. Watch the targeted Facebook Messenger Ad that the Liberals are currently running to build up their contacts and supporter IDs in advance of Election Day:

Campaigns aren't easy, and it's even harder to get people to volunteer for them. So what do you do when you actually get volunteers to help out? Read how a Regina NDP campaign became a great example of how NOT to use volunteer resources.

306 Media & Communications 16.02.2020

About 50 volunteers joined Patel to occupy all four corners of the intersection and greet passing motorists with a sea of orange signs. A waste of time and horribly ineffective campaign tactic. Many volunteers and absolutely ZERO doors knocked or supporter IDs acquired. Good campaigns know how to effectively use volunteers. This isnt one of those campaigns. NEW POLL released by 306 Media & Communications. There's a way to go before the 2020 election, but people in Saskatoon have thoughts on how Mayor Charlie Clark is doing, and how potential challenger Rob Norris may fare if he runs against Clark.

Hi! Its me - @drichsk! Many of you (including some I used to work with) are probably wondering who I am and what @306media is! So here it goes! Im originally from Saskatoon, spent my summers growing up at Emma Lake (our family still has a cabin there!), and I dabbled in competitive water skiing, which took me to Australia, North Carolina, and Alabama - where I went to university on exchange for a year.... After getting my undergrad and spending some unnecessary time toiling away at grad school at the University of Saskatchewan, I moved to Regina in 2013 to work as a political staffer for the Saskatchewan Party government. I worked in several different staffing positions in executive government, including as a communications and media relations assistant to the ministers of health and environment, and then as the director of digital operations for Scott Moe after he became premier in early 2018. Somewhere in there I was also the director of communications for the @saskparty. In addition to my work in government I also spent two seasons working with the @sskroughriders as a media relations assistant. Go Ders! Last September I decided it was time to leave government and went out on my own with @306media! So what do I do, exactly? I (mostly) help clients with political communications and campaigns , issue and digital advocacy , traditional advertising, and public and media relations . That includes everything from running clients social media pages and content, creating ads on Facebook and Google, email and Facebook Messenger marketing, advising political candidates on their campaigns, conducting polling research for clients, helping clients get their message and story out through traditional media, and much more! Outside of my everyday work, I LOVE PODCASTS!! I host and produce the Talking 306 Podcast, and am working on another exciting podcast project that Im excited to share with everyone very soon! Thanks for reading and I hope to work with or see all of you soon! - Dale P.S. - I know Im riding my bike without a helmet in this photo. Im buying one this summer! (Also, ask me about the time I tried to carry Pho home on a bike... )

Uber is now operating in Regina, Saskatchewan! In addition to assisting a local business organization with a digital advocacy campaign to show public support for ride-sharing in Regina, Dale got the narrative going with a tried and true advocacy approach: a letter to the editor in the Regina Leader-Post. We can help get your issue or cause the attention it deserves, too! ... https://www.306media.ca/issuemessaging

Recent electoral success by the Green Party across Canada confirms that they are definitely relevant. In a new blog post, Dale considers what that could mean for the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party here at home.

Jason Kenney and the United Conservative Party of Alberta beat Rachel Notley and Alberta's NDP in yesterday's election - despite the NDP running some of the most vicious attack ads you'll ever see. Read our analysis on how they managed to do it.

We help clients use innovative marketing tools like Facebook Messenger and other chat bots to directly reach customers with marketing campaigns. Campaigns we've run on Messenger have seen open rates of up to 90%! (Marketing emails are lucky to achieve a 25% open rate by those receiving them; however, we do email marketing, too ).
