Valerie was the second oldest child born to Walter & Betty Fisher on May 30, 1951 in Provost, Alberta. She grew up on the family farm near Cactus Lake with 3 siblings Marilyn, Jim & Dan. In her younger years she enjoyed curling, discing, golfing and socializing with friends and family. ... Valerie married Joe Weinkauf on August 26, 1972 and were blessed with a daughter, Lynette. Mom had various jobs over the years at The Royal Bank, the Co-op & the Red Rooster to name a few. She always loved working with numbers so decided to do books out of her home. She did bookkeeping for various companies over the years until recently when her health no longer allowed her to. You could usually find her working in her office with a cup of coffee at any hour of the day. She was dedicated to her work and was extremely organized and always kept things up to date. She loved listening to music and having jam sessions with family & friends, doing puzzles, visiting, and helping others however she could. Mom was extremely proud of her grandchildren and cherished time spent with them. Her battle with cancer was fought with bravery, hope and determination but sadly she lost her fight on December 7, 2020. Valerie leaves behind her daughter, Lynette (Kevin) Steinhubel; grandchildren Foster and Devyn Steinhubel; sister, Marilyn (David) Steve-Zorn; brothers, Jim (Bernadette) Fisher and Dan (Janet) Fisher; all Weinkauf Families; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; parents, Walter & Betty Fisher; brother-in-law, David Zorn; and nephew, Quinton Fisher. A special thank you to Dr. Erasmus and the wonderful staff at the Provost Health Center; your care and attention to mom will never be forgotten. Lloy was known for her craftsmanship, creativity and ability to MacGyver any problem and to do it to perfection. Lloy always had tools at the ready and willingness to lend a hand at any given momentshe was the only person whose purse was filled with screwdrivers, pliers and various tools to be prepared for any situation. She had knack for turning everything she touched into something beautiful. Her vision, thoroughness and attention to detail was noticed by many and was som...ething to be proud of. She may have worked at a snail’s pace but really she just preferred doing her work in a deadline-induced panic. If Lloy wasn’t covered in dry wall dust or up on a ladder with a paint brush in hand, she could be found working in her flower beds, expanding her many house plants, reading, listening to music, soaking in the tub, planning her next adventure with her girlfriends or adding to her collections in true Schielke fashion. Lloy took pride in her family. She was a dedicated mother to son Shawn and daughter in law Amanda. Lloy shared her sense of humor with them where nothing was too sacred, they loved poking fun at everything, even when times were difficult. Lloy’s pride in her family grew as she became a Nana to her three loving Grandchildren, Haeley, Blayke and Rian. Lloy shared her love of gardening with the grand kids by equipping them with water cans and gardening toolstelling them she would make gardeners out of them yet as they would work in the flower beds and tend to the house plants. Lloy also enjoyed watching the grandchildren relish her family cabin while they create lasting memories of family like her son did as a child. Sadly, some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On December 5, 2020, Lloy rejoined her heavenly family (Elmer, Mildred and brother Roger) and gained her wings. It would be wrong to say that Lloy lost her battle to cancer because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Lloy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Lloyjust ask her nurses, family and close friends. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends. She worked very hard all her life, up until the very end. She made a difference in the lives of many. She will forever be missed by her son, Shawn (Amanda); grandchildren, Haeley, Blayke and Rian; and brother, Claire (Marion). For more information, please visit: www.gregorysfuneralhomes.com
