There have been a lot of gatekeepers lately on our page. We apologize for dealing with them in a sometimes harsh manner, but it gets old. There is a serious deficit of true pride in fellow Indigenous creators in Indian Country by self-appointed gate keepers and a whole lot of schadenfreude at times. The last things Native society needs is more self-appointed gate keepers making things even harder for our people.

Let's go over some basics of copyright. You cannot copyright anything that is considered a "useful article." This is standard across the globe. It applies to things like clothing and shoes, because as a useful article, copyrighting it would keep people who might need it from being able to make it themselves. It also means any company can make any article of clothing or shoes. This is why many companies add a trademark to their items. But you can still make the same item as l...ong as you leave out the trademarked part of it. Can you imagine living in a world where clothing/shoe styles are copyrighted? Copyright lasts for 75 years, so that means for instance a hoodie would only be able to be made by one company for 75 years before other companies could make it. Or tennis shoes could only be made by one company for 75 years. Society doesn't do that because no design of clothing or shoes belongs to anyone. When people say there is nothing new under the sun, this is kinda what they are referring to. You cannot copyright something that is millenia old. It is public domain. We might make things other companies make too, like all over print hoodies, or shoes, but we design them differently. That is why we are a design company.
