Today we had the pleasure of working on Johann's 1998 KZJ95 Prado. Johann spends alot of her time on the highway between Alberta and Saskatchewan and was looking for a way to help protect her investment from deer and those pesky motorists. Obviously we opted for an @arb4x4 bull bar, unfortunately these bars or these trucks aren't readily available in north america so the wait on shipping from Australia was quite long, especially during these covid times but definitely worth it! @ Edmonton, Alberta

@rav4yeg picked up his Rav4 from us this afternoon with his new custom HD front coil springs installed. This certainly is a unique rig and we are excited to see what Phillip has in store for his Rav in the future! The Rav4 community is growing larger every day and with more and more aftermarket support being offered for these vehicles and many other midsized AWD platforms it will be interesting to see what lies ahead. Now we just need to convince Phillip to let us swap a Toyota diesel into it....

Toyota enthusiasts come in all different shapes and sizes and so do their rigs. We are excited to be working with @rav4yeg from @rnofit.fabrication and going to be fitting these custom higher load rated front coil springs for the added constant weight from the front bumper. These Rav4's are becoming a very popular option for those wanting a smaller platform to mod and we do offer a few suspension upgrade options as well as wheel and tire options to outfit these rigs. This is not a glamour post by any means. But with the warmer weather we have been seeing lately the snow is starting to melt and we can finally start breaking down some of our parts trucks that have started to accumulate over the winter. In order to keep our trucks on the road can sometimes be challenging given the fact that some of the parts we need are now not available due to obsolescence or high prices from the dealer. We are constantly buying parts trucks to replenish our stock on these valuable parts so if there is something you have been trying to track down for your rig chances are we have it or know where to find it!

With our current deep freeze weather situation there has been a lot of talk about the warmer days to come and nights spend outside around the fire. These past couple weeks the weather has been pretty terrible dropping to extremely low temperatures and unfortunately we have places to go and need our vehicles to get us there. The last thing you need is a vehicle that won't start during our yearly polar vortex and we are here to help. If you drive a Toyota diesel or any imported diesel for that matter you may have noticed they usually do not come equipped with a block heater, and if it did you are one of the lucky ones. We... offer an easy to install and equally effective Lower Radiator Hose Heater for those who unfortunately have to park outside. These heaters use convection to heat the coolant in the lower radiator hose, radiator and engine block helping keep this iron blocks above freezing temps. The most important key element in a good starting diesel is a good operating glow system. You can plug in as many heaters and you want but if your system isnt functioning properly the chances of your rig starting are very slim. We stock a wide range of glow plugs to suit many different import applications such as Mitsubishi, Nissan and of course Toyota. If you are having no start issues during this cold snap or are just looking for some advice on how to better equip your imported diesel for our winter months come by the shop, or give us a call if you can't make it!

What happens when you mix a combination of 5 different Toyotas together? One hell of a killer Land Cruiser that's what! We have been helping long time customer and friend of the shop @supra_cruiser get this rig rolling and boy does it ever haul! With the idea of building the ultimate tourer we were able to source Ryan a 1989 HJ61 high roof body and chassis, the only downside was that it was right hand drive so we found a 1988 FJ62 firewall and wiring harness that was swapped... out and converted to left hand drive. The axles were then sourced out of a 1987 HJ60 and mounted to the chassis with an 2.5" Old Man Emu lift kit with our own custom 4WA extended HD anti inversion shackles. We have also outfitted Ryan's cruiser with a rear 4x4 Labs bumper and front ARB bumper (currently not mounted for obvious reasons). The real star of the show is the heart of the beast, a 1JZ-GTE out of a 1991 JZZ30 Toyota Soarer intercooled and converted to a single turbo setup, the power is distributed by a A343 Transmission out of a 1997 FZJ80. Ryan has turned this "JZ60" into the ultimate head turner. If it's not this Toyota Land Cruisers unique looks that catch your eye it will definitely be the ear catching sound of boost coming from under the hood!

When keeping up with maintenance on our 4WD's one of the most vital components to keep maintained is the engine and drivetrain, that's why we always use Toyota OEM filters or equivalent and LIQUI MOLY oils and lubricants. Check out this super cool 1977 Toyota FJ45 LandCruiser! Kriss dropped off his truck for about two decades worth of service to get this project rolling. It started out with a complete chassis sand blast and POR15 coat, engine tune up to get this rig rolling under its own power, brand new genuine Toyota front fenders, running boards, front bumper, OEM equivalent signal light assemblies and IPF headlight capsules to get rid of those tires old sealed beams. The body panels were... no small feat to remove and replace with the 40 years of rust and seized bolts holding this truck together so when the the truck was reassembled after the sand blast and POR15 treatment all the body hardware was replaced with either cadmium coated or stainless steel hardware. One thing that was missing from the truck was the original headache rack. And with these trucks if the rack is missing it definitely looks incomplete. We now carry AWL-TEQ products and offer a u-weld it headache rack kit. This rack helps complete the rugged and utilitarian look these FJ's are known for. We are definitely loving the way the patina looks on this truck and are excited to see what Kriss has planed for it!

We are in love with this 1987 HJ60. Klaus sent us his rig all the way from Toronto for 20 years of service work in one shot. We enjoy doing these projects and one of our favorite additions to this rig was the custom 4.5" @arb4x4 Old Man Emu lift to stuff 35" @bfgoodrichtires KM3's. Besides the aesthetics and suspension we serviced everything front to rear, knuckle to hub, and everything in between to get this beast ready for it's trip back to Toronto, Enjoy Klaus!

We have definitely had our fair share of cool rigs at the shop lately and @coreyshannon5 5th Gen 4Runner makes no exception. Corey came to us looking for options to upgrade from his current worn out and leaking Toytec suspension system and obviously we opted for the #oldmanemu suspension system by @arb4x4. There is a lot of suspension options on the market today and when choosing a suspension system for your 4WD make sure to consider the climate you live in and the kind of driving you will be doing. Getting a good quality suspension system that is tolerant to our harsh Canadian climates should be one of your first considerations!

Here at 4 Wheel Auto one of the most common problems we run into is rust. Most of the corrosion we find on these older Land Cruisers is on the rear frame plate or gusset used to mount the spring perches to the rear of the frame. This 1981 BJ42 came to us with this exact issue and without any further action taken can result in catastrophic failure. We are able to remove what’s left of the rotten frame plates and save the existing Spring perch, then prepped the spring perches in the blast cabinet and re-welded the perches to our new frame plates. After all our frame repairs we prep and coat the surfaces with POR-15 to help prevent any future corrosion. Our goal is to help keep these trucks on the road for years to come and if you have an older Land Cruiser that needs some help give us a call!

It's that time again where we say goodbye to another long time shop resident, this 1977 Toyota FJ45 LandCruiser. This truck came to us all the way from Vancouver where numerous shops turned it away due to its previous condition. The only parts that were really salvageable were the tub, chassis and drive-train. Most of the other panels on the truck were replaced with new or quality used parts, including a brand new box, tailgate and OEM front fenders. While the body was off w...e were able to completely sandblast and re-coat the entire chassis in POR15. Then the assembly process started and and not one bolt went un-turned from bumper to tailgate. Photos do not due this truck justice and was sad to see it go but we have more builds we can't wait show you! If you have a classic Toyota and want to bring it back to life give us a call! Cory came by the shop with his Ford Raptor looking for mounting options for his Treeline Outdoors Roof top tent while still being able to utilize the factory tonneau cover. Luckily for him we are a local Edmonton Twinpeaksco supplier! These racks not only allow us to retain most tonneau covers on the market, they also have three adjustable height settings from 15.5" to 22.5". These racks fit most standard pickup trucks up to a 65" inside bed width. Not only does these racks ...look great but come with a variety of options including light kits, awning mounts, no drill mounting kits for easy installation and bottle openers! We had the pleasure of having @landcruisingoverland sweet HDJ81 in the shop today for a Dobinsons Spring & Suspension / @Fox suspension upgrade. These trucks are already super capable rigs and now not only do these springs look sweet but they also help the trucks load carrying capacity help the truck ride like a dream!

Today we had the pleasure of working on Kevin's 2019 TRD Pro Tundra. These trucks come factory with Fox TRD Pro suspension. Kevin was looking for a way to retain the factory Pro suspension but add some lift to give this tundra a more aggressive look and be able to fit larger tires in the future. The ReadyLift Suspension Inc. Pro Plus 2 kit offers everything you will need to retain the factory Pro suspension. This kit includes DOM steel UCA's with extended duty ball joints an...d urethane bushings, these control arms are designed to retain OEM ball joint angles while also providing the necessary clearance during suspension cycling. The 2" of lift in the front is achieved by a CNC billet top hat that replaces the factory top hat without altering the factory Pro 2" lift. The rear lift is given done with help of a OEM style 2" block. Differential drop spacers, bump stop spacers, sway bar to frame mount spacers and skid plate spacers designed to work with the factory TRD Pro skid plate are also included with the appropriate hardware. With this kit combined with the TRD Pro suspension gives us an overall 4" of lift! No cutting or preloading the strut coils is required to give the overall lift and we retain factory alignment specs! We love these trucks and if you own a TRD Pro Toyota and are looking to gain some without sacrificing the the suspension or ride quality give your local Toyota experts a call!

It's not everyday we get to work on Nissan's, and when Dan came to us with his badass 2008 Pathfinder asking for a face lift we couldn't pass up the opportunity. We equiped this cool rig with a @arb4x4usa deluxe bar and @theoriginalsmittybilt X2O 10k winch to give it the rugged look it deserves! @ Edmonton, Alberta

Alpesh came by the shop with his sweet 4th gen 4Runner today and we were able to finish our install on the @safari4x4engineering and @afepower magnum force intake combo. A little bit of custom fitment and these two fit together like they were meant to. Helping these motors breathe better and safer for when those certain conditions may apply is very important. Nothing says stopping power like four wheel drum brakes right? Wrong, LandCruisers are some of the most robust and reliable 4wd's around but why would you want to limit that with old fashioned drum brakes. Our FJ45 project recently received a front disc brake upgrade from the Stone age front drum brake system it came equiped with. The nice thing about 40 series LandCruisers is the compatibility between different models. We were able to run all factory Toyota replacement par...ts to make this upgrade look 100% factory original unlike other options on the market using domestic calipers and brackets with after market brake boosters and brake masters. We thought Patrick was crazy for bringing this ex-mine truck to us for a restoration/driver project. The initial truck that was dropped of was far from pretty, even for a 79 Series Land Cruiser. This 2007 HZJ79 Land Cruiser was covered from bonnet to bumper with Potash dust as hard as concrete. Caked on from years of use and neglect. Almost every panel needed to be straightened or replaced. And luckily we were able to supply a genuine Toyota box. This truck was originally... used as a personnel carrier with a large cab mounted on the rear to transport workers, this called for a massive leaf spring pack in the rear. With the personnel carrier removed there was no need for that heavy leaf pack so we replaced it and the rest of the suspension with a ARB 4x4 Accessories Old Man Emu suspension system. And no bumper looks better on these rigs other then an ARB 4x4 Accessories winch bar. Patrick wanted to keep this rig looking as clean and OEM as possible. But we know it won't be long until he's back to outfit this cool rig! @ Edmonton, Alberta

Nick came by the shop with his new to him 2016 Lexus GX460 and left it in out hands for a couple day. These truck share a platform with with their relatives, the 4Runner and the Land Cruiser Prado. That being said the aftermarket options for these trucks are equally as available. The factory air ride suspension was swapped out with ICON Vehicle Dynamics CDC extended travel coil overs and shocks front and back, the rear factory airbags where also swapped out with 3" HD coils s...prings from ICON with our own coil spring conversion kit. We also opted for ICON's tubular UCA's with the Delta Joint. The Delta joint far surpasses any uni-ball design in out climate which makes it the obvious choice. It seems to be a common problem with a lot of the Toyotas these days to have seized lower cam bolts so we replaced the LCA's and installed Specialty Products Company Cam adjusting bolts to prevent future problems. The exterior was given a minor make over with sliders from Metal-tech 4X4 and we were able to utilize the factory side step/rocker moulding to give the sliders and nice clean look. To finish it off Nick brought his Stealth Custom Series F5 wheels from his last GX and they tie everything together perfecty. Last week we had the pleasure to work on this Land Rover LR3. Not our usual type of project but never the less the end product is definitely something we can be happy with. Given that this LR3 comes equiped with factory air ride suspension that is still in great working order the customer opted for a more cost effective lift option, Proud Rhino offers a "Lift-Rod" kit that tricks the air suspension into thinking the bags are low, thus filling the bags with more air therefore ...helping us achieve a constant 2.5" lift. With this lift we achieve more ground clearance and the ability to run larger tires. Given the limited options of wheel selections for these trucks the customer opted for these amazing @compomotive_wheels that fit these trucks perfectly. We also chose to run the @yokohamacanada Geolander M/T G003's to finish off the trucks aggressive look and make the truck capable for whatever the owner decides to throw at it. We usually run into some clearance issues with most newer trucks we run a larger tire on and this one was no different. A minor body mount chop was required to make this fitment happy. @ 4 Wheel Auto Wholesale

Our HZJ79 mine truck rehabilitation sure has come a long way in the past month and it has been a pleasure to return this legendary rig back to it's former glory. The life this truck has had is a true testiment to how durable and resilient these trucks really are. A couple more days in the shop and this rig will be ready for it's new home. Today we had something alittle different then the usual in the shop. This 2019 Trail Boss came by the shop for a suspension lift, wheels and tires and we were happy to oblige. These trucks come with a 2" lift stock. We used the new 4" Pro Comp lift that utilizes the factory lift to give us an overall 6" lift. In order to make up for the added clearance the customer opted for the classic Fuel Offroad Mavericks and a set 35" Toyo Tires A-T2 extremes to handle all the elements Alberta has to throw at it.
