Abbeydale Christian Fellowship 14.11.2020

When so much of life swirls around us - uncontrollable by us - leaving us feeling swept along, sometimes pulled under by what overwhelms, knowing that God is eternal and He holds us and all that there is in His control is reassuring. Psalm 102 1 Hear my prayer, Lord; let my cry for help come to you.... 2 Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. 12 But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. 13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come. The New Covenant and Bitterness and Hostility (from this last week's sermon) Bitterness is a hard thing to root out. It resides deep, often because it enters as a result of profound hurt or betrayal or disappointment. ... Homework: Fast and pray this week about bitterness and hostility If there is bitterness in your heart, even if the reasons are understandable, hear the invitation under the new and better covenant to pray and fast asking God to undo our bitterness. A good way to start is to seek the good and intercede for the person or group we are bitter toward. Let us take on the invitation of the new covenant to have hostility and division undone in us; let us seek God to do this work in us this week. How can we pray? I have two suggestions for you: 1. Pray for the Spirit to come and examine you 2. Pray for the person or group you are bitter and hostile toward An example of praying for the Spirit to examine me could sound something like this: Spirit come with truth and grace and make known where I am holding on to bitterness and hostility. By your powerful ministry root it out in me by rooting my life in you, your ways and Kingdom O God. An example of praying for a person or group I am bitter and hostile toward could sound something like this: I am bitter and hostile toward ______________________. I ask for your blessing for this person, for this group of people. Give them your peace, your joy, your presence, your salvation. May they know they are loved by you and draw them into your presence. In their work, their family, their dreams, establish them and guide them. Let me see them through your eyes O Lord, through the New Covenant. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

We are excited to open our doors again for in-person services beginning Sunday, August 9 at 10:30 a.m. Our services will also be streamed for those who choose to remain at home. Connect with the service here: https://www.youtube.com/cha/UCiePoF0jpjcGbsp0Ag0ui5A/videos Our service will look and feel a bit different as we adjust to some adaptations. Please observe signs posted around the church building. To comply with current guidelines, we will not be serving beverages or sn...acks but encourage you to bring your own prepared coffee or tea from home. In accordance with the City of Calgary bylaw, face masks must be worn while in the building (those who cannot for medical reasons and those under age 2 are exempt); hand sanitizer is available throughout the building; and we will be practicing physical distancing. In case you forget your mask at home, we have one for you when you arrive. See you on Sunday.

This last week I was graced by two sisters in Christ. Each shared with me a song sparked from our series in Hebrews. Feel free to share what Scripture is sparking in you! Here are their recommendations: 1."Enter the Rest of God" https://youtu.be/vFFa-C95RSU ... 2. "Yes, Lord, Yes" https://youtu.be/FTPTWAzzpF8
