When the Federal Government needed a new septic system design for the controversial lighthouse on Machias (aka Seal) Island, they turned to ABLE for a solution. After all, bare rock with a foot of questionable soil isn’t something new to us. #engineering #engineeringservices
Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst have discovered how to make materials that snap and reset themselves, only relying upon energy flow from their environment. The discovery may prove useful for various industries that want to source movement sustainably, from toys to robotics, and is expected to further inform our understanding of how the natural world fuels some types of movement. http://ow.ly/iDTG50DssPR #engineers #engineering

Did you know that ABLE Engineering designs more septic systems than any engineering firm in Nova Scotia? People hire us because we save them money by designing each one for the conditions on their property. We were even chosen to do one job that has 600 homes! Cleaning up the Lahave River!

We work with Landscape Architects because they can make our basic designs look wonderful and save money in the process. This is the entrance to The Esquire Restaurant on the Bedford Highway, where our design to fix up the site was enhanced by this collaborative idea. It used to be old concrete steps with a sorry looking wooden wheelchair ramp. Now it's a universally accessible entrance, where everyone comes in the same way, and water drains away from the building. Oh, and that cool curvy curb!
