During the recent war, a rug collector who had established a carpet museum in Shushi moved his collection to Armenia and is now displaying them in Yerevan. He collected these rugs over 30 years directly from Armenian families in the villages through out Karabagh. Each rug has documented provenance. The report is in Armenian but you can enjoy the rugs regardless. https://www.facebook.com/lurer1tv/videos/496459468016185/

For those who think Armenia isn’t European, I have news for you. The cultural and musical traditions of Europe first appeared in Armenia. Listen to this folk song based on an ancient lullaby.

Davit is a member of the Miqayel Voskanian band
Unfortunately the Live Armenia concert scheduled October 8 featuring the Miqayel Voskanian Band has been postponed due to war. The sax player, Davit Melkonyan was called to active duty to defend Artsakh. The other members of the band are waiting to be called up soon. Even musicians and artists are ready to defend their homeland. We wish Davit a speedy and safe return. LONG LIVE ARTSAKH!

Here is another viewing recommendation. The Line (Armenian title: , or Kyanq u Kriv (translating to "Life and Struggle" in English)) An excellent movie with English subtitles. Music composed by ex-Vancouverite, Armen Martirosyan. It’s a 2016 war movie from Armenia involving the Nagorno-Karabakh war of the early 1990's between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The film takes place in 1991 and centers around a fearful young man named Tigran, who after finally losing the girl ...he loved in a Love Triangle due to not being able to tell her how he felt, enlists in the Armenian army to fight in Nagorno-Karabakh. While fighting he encounters Armen, who is in love with Tigran's deaf sister Sophie, and the two become friends. The film follows their journey, as Tigran finally learns to face his fears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP6RTSdvA-E
