I am happy to introduce Emily as our new Team Member! Emily developed an interest in massage therapy after recovering from a snowboarding injury while studying music in Nelson, B.C. After working with a variety of therapists and developing a keen interest in the body, she began with a 700 hour bodywork program ...and undergraduate courses in athletic therapy. She was offered a grant to pursue a health care diploma, and decided upon the Registered Massage Therapy Program at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy. Emily maintained honours standing throughout her education and has completed continuing education in kinetic-link training and myofascial treatment. She has also been working towards her Bachelor of Health Science through Thompson Rivers University, online. Emily aims for her massage treatments to be both effective and relaxing and incorporates a variety of techniques to achieve her client’s goals. In Emily’s massage therapy career she has worked in multidisciplinary clinics and collaborated with a variety of health care practitioners. While she believes in the physical and psychological benefits of massage therapy, she understands that client outcomes are dependent upon active participation by the client in lifestyle modification, stretching and strengthening. She also believes in the importance of utilizing the various expertise of practitioners on a multidisciplinary health care team. She is looking forward to collaborating with the team at Accelerated Sport and Spine Physiotherapy and to meeting her new clients! See more
