Due to #COVID19, our team has been unable to source a few items we typically include for the new clients entering our program. Accessible’s Bridge to Home program is an intensive case management program for individuals experiencing chronic or episodic #homelessness. The program provides access to accessible and affordable housing, and connections to local supports while focusing on long term goals and sustainable transitions back into the community. When new clients enter o...ur program they typically have very few household items, which is why we created the #WelcomeHomePackage program. Accessible Housing presented a very special award to our esteemed colleague last month. In fact, it was so special that it hadn't even been created until our selection committee received all of its nominations and realized, "this woman literally encompasses ALL of our core values - there is not one particular category that she excels in more than the other." Welcome Home Bowl was sparked by our desire to show ourselves, our communities, our clients and our children that no matter what challenges we may face, if we band together there is nothing that we can’t get through. Well here we have Darren. Darren, Project Manager of our Residential Accessible Design (RAD) Renovations program, has been awarded the 2020 Accessible Housing Value Award for Empowerment. He is an incredibly kind, compassionate and conscientious person who is always an absolute joy to be around (seriously - we've never seen him not smiling). I was so pleased and surprised to receive the Empowerment Award from my co-workers. It is really powerful, because I feel like everyon...e at Accessible Housing empowers each other to do our best work and give the best service we can to our clients and residents. I get rewarded constantly from seeing clients environments improved and have barriers and obstacles removed. Seeing them and their caregivers empowered to do basic things like leaving the house, or going upstairs is the most rewarding feeling. Remy’s life was on-track for success. At 20 years old, he moved from Eastern Canada to Canmore and had recently completed his Journeyman ticket as an automotive technician. He was also enrolled in the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) guiding program, and enjoyed backcountry skiing, ice climbing, and mountain biking.
