Every day we strive to provide the best environment for your pets while they visit us in hospital! We use all kinds of tricks and tips during your pet’s visit to keep them feeling happy and content while in an unfamiliar place. Part of our strategy is no secret- we use lots of TREATS! Treats come in all forms, but we find our patients LOVE liver treats in particular (salmon for our kitties), so this is our main go to in the treat jar. We have a variety to offer and even inclu...de Pupsicles as a long lasting treat that can be enjoyed while we administer vaccinations. This little cutie is thoroughly enjoying her pupsicle and didn’t even flinch for vaccines with Dr. Coby Frey and Brandee Fildey, RVT. Pupsicles are made with canned dog food and water blended together and then frozen in a mould. If you would like to try this at home with your pet to provide mental stimulation while you are away (or for crate training), use canned dog food in the hole of a properly sized kong toy and then freeze it. This reduces boredom and will keep pup busy! Happy Treating! See more

It's chilly out there! Environment Canada has issued extreme cold weather warnings for Strathmore and surrounding areas. This means that there is increased risk of frostbite and hypothermia for both us, and our animals! Please be sure to keep your pets indoors during this cold snap, and outside for only short periods of time to do their business. Don't forget to add extra bedding in shelters for outdoor animals and ensure adequate food and water! Stay warm everyone!!

Cluck Cluck As part of a routine exam, this friendly little chicken was here to see Dr. Kyle Dubreuil. Her ears were assessed during her visit today, and as you can see they definitely look a little different than any other four legged animal we normally see! Chickens don’t have external ears like dogs or cats (or us!) however they do have small little ‘ear lobes’, or caruncles just below their ears! This gal is showing no signs of infection and has nice healthy ears! We are happy to report that she checked out well and went back home to mingle with her flock!

Multiple puppies were unknowingly released from their kennel. They proceeded to wiggle their bums and kiss the staff while they were trying to work. ...Camera footage verified Steve let the dogs out.
