Today leaders and youth from the African Canadian community in Regina had a very constructive round table meeting with Mayor Michael Fougere, his staff and members of the council to discuss issues relating to Racism, Discrimination, Social exclusion and the lack of engagement with the Black community. The discussion was amicable and touched on many important areas including the difficult experiences of the Black children and youth in the school system. The mayor and his team ...listened to our concerns and promised to work with us to address these difficult challenges facing our city. The mayor was also very acknowledging and appreciative of the important contributions to our city by Canadians and immigrants of African descent. ACRN and Muna from SACHM led our energetic and talented youth to present a powerful message to the mayor and his team. See more
