Have a safe Halloween!
The Middlesex-London Health Unit, in consultation with the City of London and the County of Middlesex, has requested that the new restrictions announced yesterd...ay by the Premier of Ontario be extended to the London and Middlesex region. The Health Unit has reported 47 new cases of COVID-19 in the last week, 30 of those since Wednesday alone. The Health Unit has also declared three outbreaks this week: one associated with downtown bars and restaurants, a second tied to a large party and a third, declared today, related to the Walmart store in Hyde Park. The Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Chris Mackie, says that the limits announced for the Toronto, Peel and Ottawa regions yesterday, are now necessary in the Middlesex-London region in order to curb further spread of COVID-19 locally. The restrictions announced yesterday limit gatherings at private residences to 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors. #LdnOnt #Middlesex
This is not a joke. This is not a drill. #COVID19 is spreading widely and you need to pay attention. Cancel your parties and ALL get-togethers. That means movie... nights, games nights, study groups - being around anyone who is not your roommate or significant other. If you’re on campus, it’s critical to stay two metres apart from everyone and wear a mask. If you have symptoms, get tested (e.g. fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, etc.). See the full list: https://bit.ly/3iGZtjL If you’ve been contacted by #MLHU or public health, get tested. Otherwise, don’t get tested. Monitor yourself for symptoms and do your part to prevent the spread. If you’ve tested negative recently so what?! You can still get it. You need to cancel all your parties and get-togethers and stay only with your roommate and significant other. Testing is available at Western University's testing trailer, located in the Social Science Centre parking lot. Hours: Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Appointments are also available through the Student Health Care Clinic. Every year, #MLHU is finding more and more blacklegged #ticks. That’s why a large portion of London and Middlesex County is now identified as a Lyme disease ri...sk area by Public Health Ontario - Santé publique Ontario. More blacklegged ticks = a higher risk of #LymeDisease. So PLEASE protect yourself when enjoying the outdoors. If anyone in your group finds a tick on themselves, use the eTick app to identify the type of tick, or submit it to the Health Unit. If you have concerns about Lyme disease, contact your healthcare provider.
