The OMHA, along with the OHF and Hockey Canada, have worked diligently on a Return to Hockey plan based on direction from governments and public health authorities. For the 2020-21 hockey season, all Team Officials (Coach, Trainer, Manager) and HCOP On-Ice Officials are required to complete the Hockey University: Planning a Safe Return to Hockey course. There is no charge to access the course. The FREE program looks at some key information to know to help to reduce the risk ...of COVID-19 in the hockey environment. Throughout the module detailed information will be reviewed on specific prevention topics and encourage all to become familiar with the Public Health Authority guidelines and restrictions and the Hockey Canada Safety Guidelines. All minor hockey participants are encouraged to read the Hockey Canada Return to Play Guidelines and the OHF Return to Play Framework for the most up-to-date and important information concerning the safety protocols for Return to Hockey. Hockey Canada has developed an online course to ensure everyone have as much information as possible to prepare. The program is broken into three (3) modules; Introduction to Reopening, Specific Considerations and Roles and Responsibilities and takes approximately 20 minutes. Here is he link to the program: HTTPS://EHOCKEY.HOCKEYCANADA.CA/EHOCKEY/CLINICDETAIL.ASPX

2020 - 2021 Season Details Thank you to everyone that has registered with the Acton House League Hockey Association. Now that we have received our Hockey Canada insurance we can continue to move forward with our plans for the 2020-2021 season and provide the following details; The season will run from October 15th, 16th and 17th to March 13th and 14th (20 weeks). Each team will have a maximum of 9 players (8 skaters and 1 goalie). ... Each division is limited to 50 players (cohort/bubble). Ice times will not be as previous years as there is a 30 minute buffer between each ice time to move people in and out of the facility. With these parameters in place we now must commit to the Town our ice requirements. In order to do that we need all participants to register and pay for the upcoming season by September 15th, 2020. We are unable to guarantee a spot for this season after that date. Please be assured that all monies, or a prorated refund based on how much hockey has been played, will be returned to families in the event that the Town cancels any portion of the season. Thank you to everyone for your understanding. If you have any questions, comments or concerns we will try our best to answer then. Good evening! Hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer, before school starts. We have a start date for the 2020/21 hockey season. ... The season will begin the weekend after Thanksgiving, Friday October 16th - Sunday 18th. That will give us 19 weeks plus a Day of Champs weekend. With the current distancing rules in place the teams would be restricted to 9 players per team allowing 4 skaters plus a goalie on the ice and 4 players on the bench. It is unknown what the games might look like at this time. We are still accepting registrations for the upcoming season. Please visit: https://actonhouseleague.ca/Pages/1010/General_Information/ to register your child. Looking forward to a great season of House League Hockey.

The Town continues to work with the various levels of government, Health Agencies and the Provincial Sporting Bodies to prepare for the upcoming hockey season. As they have communicated before, the Town's current plan is to open TransCanada rink on September 8 (tentative), opening other pads, as the demand requires. Currently hockey organizations are in a hold position waiting direction from governing bodies, however, for the Town to plan re-opening of ice they need to know... the expected usage. The primary use is minor groups such as Halton Hills Minor Hockey, North Halton Twisters, Halton Hurricanes, Georgetown Skate Club, Acton Skate Club, Acton House League and Georgetown Raiders. If these groups cannot operate or are on modified programs (reduced registration because of COVID-19), the Town needs to review how much ice is really needed. Halton Hills simply cannot justify or support opening all their ice surfaces if there is very low demand. With this information, and assuming the Acton Arena will open as scheduled October 5th, the Acton House League Hockey Association is considering the following; Season starting October 16th - 18th (weekend after Thanksgiving) which would give us 19 weeks plus Day of Champs weekend. With the current distancing rules in place the teams would be restricted to 9 players per team allowing 4 skaters plus a goalie on the ice and 4 players on the bench. It is unknown what the games might look like. What the Acton House League Hockey Association is wanting to know is whether your son or daughter are going to play hockey this upcoming season or is the concern of contracting the COVID virus (from other players/skaters, family members or team members) going to keep you away from the arena? We are asking that if your intent is to play hockey next season please register via our website. This will give us an indication of the number of players in each division. If you do not want to pay the registration fee at this time you can choose the Money Order option and we can reconcile payment if and when the season starts. The Town is looking to our Association to advise them of how many hours of ice we will be committing to this season so they can determine whether there is sufficient demand to install ice in Acton. Not knowing how many players are returning this season makes our commitment or the decision of whether we can operate as an Association very difficult. If you have any questions, comments or concerns we will try our best to answer them. Thanks in advance, Rick Smith President Acton House League Hockey Association [email protected]

A message from our President, Rick Smith..... Hi all, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these unusual times. ... I would like to remind everyone that registration for next year's hockey season is open with the price reduction applied. I know that being in uncertain times at this point, that the upcoming hockey season may not be on everyone's mind. The Acton House League Hockey Association is intending to move forward with the hockey season as long as it is safe to do so, and with the approval from Hockey Canada. We will continue to keep everyone informed of what is happening moving forward. We do assure that if the hockey season does not move forward as planned, that full refunds will be available to all families. We do need to know player numbers in order for us to book the appropriate ice for next season. You can register for the 2020/21 season at: https://actonhouseleague.ca/Pages/1010/General_Information/ Take care and have a safe summer. Rick Smith President Acton House League Hockey Association
