We are talking about teams this month. How do you use empathy with your team? This article shared some insights about leading teams in 2020. We would love to hear from you about what is working for you in 2020.
It's September and so we're looking at leadership and building teams, from a Conscious Leadership perspective. Two of the best examples of our of leadership concept lies in the hearts, and careers, of Bob Iger and Oprah Winfrey. Trudy often enjoys watching SuperSoul Sunday and loved this interview by Oprah of Bob Iger about his recent autobiography. Iger has had an amazing career culminating in his leadership of Disney. He offers some wonderful advice toward the end of this i...nterview about. Oprah asked him for a key to his success and he said it was all about hiring great people and trusting them to do well. We all hear that but he also outlined what he meant by "hire good people" in that he looks for a set of characteristics when he is hiring. The list includes: integrity; a healthy enthusiasm; an eagerness to be good at what they do; curiosity about everything; and finally that they are just decent people. Decent people are authentic, and what you see is what you get. Enjoy the interview. And poke around on her list for some other gems like Shawn Acher, Brene Brown, Pema Chodron etc.
Great quick video that underlines the human aspect of leading a team to results. Being human works! #consciousleadership #leadershipdevelopment #teambuilding
September has arrived and this month we are talking about teams. Hope you enjoy my latest blog post about team building and reach out if you are interested in chatting about how our programs can support you and your team in building/strengthening the skills needed to achieve effective, efficient and enjoyable team environments. #teambuilding #consciousleaders #consciousteams #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipcoaching
Being part of a strong team starts with each member doing their own work. In these difficult times of working from home, daily fears around running errands, concerns around sending kids back to school, or worry around visiting elderly relatives, we are all feeling more reactive than usual. In times like this, doing your own work becomes all the more vital. Psychologist Susan David is a wonderful source of tools for personal development, and in this case, learning to gather information about what's happening within you from all three of your centres of wisdom: head, heart and body.
And with our break for August, we'd like to invite you into an appreciation of silence in nature... Sunday Report on CBS in the States, ends every show with a few moments of silence in nature. Here's a wee piece on how those moments come to be. Enjoy and we'll regroup in September. (Thanks to Big Stone House for pointing video this out to us.)
August arrives tomorrow and as coaches we encourage our clients to take time to rest and rejuvenate - and we are committed to "walking the talk" so we are taking a well deserved break from our work here at Adaptive Leadership. We look forward to re-engaging in September!
