Did you know, the rhomboids are the very thin muscles located in your upper back between the shoulder blades. Since the rhomboids connect the shoulder blade (scapula) to the spinal column, the relatively small muscles are responsible for a heavy burden that includes pulling your shoulders back for correct posture. As a community we should all do our part to flatten the curve. Welcome back to FEATURE FRIDAYS! We are very fortunate to have two amazing chiropractors here at Advanced Physiotherapy & Sports Medicine, who are passionate about helping you feel your best. Today we feature Dr. John Varga!... Dr. Varga grew up here in Hamilton. In his previous life, he was a Pharmaceutical Chemist. As a child he regularly had chiropractic treatments and decided to pursue chiropractic to help people feel as good as he did. He enrolled in New York Chiropractic College... and the rest is history! Dr. Varga has treated many different patients, from babies to pregnant women, professional athletes and everyone else in between. When not helping his patients feel better, you will find him zipping around the motorcross track with his sons, refereeing minor hockey, playing hockey or impersonating Elvis. Dr. Varga is passionate about helping patients understand the nature of their injury or pain and actively involved in their ongoing treatment and maintenance. Dr. Varga incorporates chiropractic, physical therapy, active release techniques (ART), acupuncture, massage therapy, athletic therapy, and orthotics. Welcome back to FEATURE FRIDAYS I know you all were waiting with baited breath to see who will be featured next! Well rest easy the long wait is finally over! Let me introduce you to Glenn Burke. If you have ever attended physiotherapy here at Advanced Physiotherapy & Sports Medicine, then you are no stranger to Glenn! He is our Athletic Therapist, brace expert and soon to be resident Osteopath! We think he should wear a super hero cape! He has been an integral part of ...the Advanced Physio team since 2010!!! When hes not helping you feel better, in the physio room, you can find him being chauffeur to his hockey lovin sons or knitting slippers and toques. Next time you see him ask for one of his famous knitted toques! (we joke!) Glenn was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised on Cape Breton Island, and attended Cape Breton University. He moved to Ontario and attended Sheridan College. After graduating Glenn worked as Athletic Therapist with several professional teams (Sudbury Wolves, Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL Montreal and Colorado Avalanche). Currently he, his lovely wife, Maria and 2 sons call Beamsville home. Most extended health plans include Physiotherapy and Athletic Therapy as part of their plans!
