Sharing Saturdays A fun way the kids sent their parents a love message. It was so funny when I told them I was going to write on their feet with marker. Then getting them to line their feet up for the picture was just as funny.

Fun Friday Singing a goofey song and talking about my brain. It's never too early for kids to start learning about how their brain works. Have the kids sing along.

Telling it like it is Thursdays Oh so many hard days with Terry's depression that I don't even want to write about it this week. But I can still rope him in to playing a game for Facebook.

What I've been up to Wednesdays This is an amazing group of people that I have the pleasure of meeting with once a month. They have given me the courage and support to work on writing our family's story of the journey through adoption, autism and mental health. I am so grateful that I met them through the Baysville Library Writers Group. Just a small sample of the group that was on Zoom last month.

It's amazing what we have figured out how to play on Zoom. The boys and I had a great game of Would you Rather and Sticks and dots. New flyer coming soon for more virtual adventures. Lock down will be hard, but it won't get the best of us. We will still stay connected and learning.

The anticipation of Christmas starts around November when adults start using Santa as a threat to good behaviour, lists are made of toys to play with and excitement levels up as advent chocolate disappears. Then BAM, the morning of the 25th is over and the sugar filled kids start to have undesirable behaviour. The adults wonder why they are behaving like that when they just got so many presents..... Perhaps the meltdowns come from being over stimulated and exhausted. The... anticipation is gone, replaced with cries of I have nothing to do. So what to do???? Settle back into a routine, let the kids know what is coming for the day and help them participate. Routines can be drawn out in a range of times. Some kids might do better with hourly schedules while others might like just having a vague idea of what is going to happen. You know your kids. Take a breath and put structure back in the day it will work for you and them. If you are looking for ideas on how to move kids through undesirable behaviour, Affinity Consulting is booking Zoom sessions for parents. See more
