HOUSING SUPPORT WORKER WORKSHOP Tues., April 9th Christ Church Parish Hall... 61 Dundas Street, Dartmouth 10.30am to 4pm Across the province, a number of housing support workers are currently providing one-on-one support to individuals facing multiple barriers in their efforts to secure housing. Even though funding for the positions comes from various sources, and each one is serving a unique group of individuals, there are many commonalities and experiences worthwhile sharing. The Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS), as the new Community Entity of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) for HRM and Rural NS, would like to convene a Housing Support Worker workshop and provide an opportunity to discuss and share experiences, and explore ways to address service delivery challenges. This event will provide an excellent opportunity to network with your peers. As we want to make this event useful for you, please help us shape the day by providing topics and ideas for the agenda. Please confirm your attendance by Monday, April 1st and inform us of any dietary restrictions you may have. If you are coming from outside of HRM, please talk to us about possible assistance with your travel cost. To register and for more info, please contact: Claudia Jahn [email protected] (902) 406-1777 Please distribute to your networks

Launch of ‘Health and Homelessness in Halifax: A Report on the Health Status of Halifax’s Homeless Population 2012’ and 'Halifax Report Card on Homelessness 2012’ Thursday, November 22, 2012... Press Conference/Panel Discussion/Q&A, 10:00 am 11:00 am Four Points by Sheraton, 1496 Hollis Street, Halifax Conference Centre, Compass Room On behalf of the Street Health Report Committee, I would like to invite you to attend the official launch of two reports: ‘Halifax Report Card on Homelessness 2012’ and ‘Health and Homelessness in Halifax: A Report on the Health Status of Halifax’s Homeless Population 2012’ These key data tools aim to stimulate discussion and generate interventions that will reduce homelessness and ultimately improve the health and lives of the most vulnerable population in our city. Improving any system requires an understanding of all facets of the picture by policy makers, service providers and community groups. The Halifax Report Card on Homelessness 2012 documents the current state of homelessness using indicators that monitor changes in homelessness, housing, and income over time. The Health and Homelessness in Halifax 2012 report examines the daily living conditions of homeless people in Halifax, their physical and mental health status and the barriers they face when trying to gain access to health care. A panel of community leaders will discuss the findings. Please contact me to RSVP or if you have any questions. Sincerely, Claudia Jahn 406-1777 [email protected]
