ATG isn't *just* a farm. ATG is a lifestyle. It doesn't take much sleuthing to uncover that plant-based diets are more economically and environmentally friendly than animal-based diets. Many people are transitioning or considering a plant-based diet to lessen their impacts. Educating ourselves about the food choices we have and making decisions that make sense is an important step. The Whole Grains Council shares many informative and fact-based articles - a great place to do... some light reading. https://wholegrainscouncil.org//whole-grains-whole-planet- One myth surrounding plant-based diets is that they lack sufficient proteins. Whole grains pack more than fibre! One serving of ATG whole grains can dish out between 4.65 g (Rye) to 6.93g (Wheat)* of protein! https://wholegrainscouncil.org//protein-packed-whole-grains

Our Leek and Barley Risotto is a simple and delicious side for most dinners. Cooked with water and butter here, it pairs great with local carrots and fish. Bonus microgreens grown on our windowsill! Locally grown grains have replaced imported rices on our plates. The sparkle of cheap prices for big bags of white rice doesn't fool us. Someone is paying the price for our inefficient and unsustainable global food system. Buying local grains means directly ensuring your food so...urce for years to come. Buying local grains means investing in local farmers who are developing and nurturing strains that can tolerate our climate. Buying local grains means investing in a food system that will not be limited by global trade restrictions in the midst of a pandemic. #wholegrains #localfoodmatters #wholefood #itmakessense #risotto #barley #organic #delicious #nutrientdense #feedingthefamily #supportlocal #forlife

Our Winter Rye is now planted and our cover crops are growing. ‘Farmers plant winter wheat in the fall, following soybean harvest in a typical rotation. This rotation has been shown to help break up pest and disease cycles while utilizing nutrients in the soil to the utmost potential. Farmers plant wheat following soybeans, as soybeans add nitrogen to the soil through nodules on their roots. Wheat is a nitrogen hungry crop, so it is a perfect follow-up to soybeans.’ Sou...rced from: https://goodineverygrain.ca//why-do-farmers-plant-wheat-i/ #RegenAg #soilhealth #knowyourfarmer

We spent the day removing morning glory’s, tomato plants, amaranth and beans from the gardens in preparation for fall planting. We also took these lovely photos. Check out the ‘ladies’ sharing some tea time in the bush. #RegenAg #fall2020 #knowyourfarmer #teatime

A delicious seasonal snack for kids and adults. This recipe is freezer friendly. Mini Apple Crisp Treats Ingredients ... 8 apples, peeled and chopped 1 cup of rolled oats 1/4 cup of AtG Ancient Amber Wheat flour 1/4 cup of honey 1/4 cup of oil (any kind - I use locally sourced sunflower oil from Kricklewood Farm) 1/4 cup of hemp hearts 2 Tbsp chia seed 1 tsp cinnamon Directions Preheat oven to 350 F. While the oven is preheating, prepare the topping. In a large bowl, mix together the oatmeal, flour, hemp hearts, chia seed and cinnamon. Next, add the honey and the oil. Mix it until it is all combined. Line a muffin tin with silicone liners**. Fill the muffin cups with the chopped apples. Spoon the topping on top of the apples. Bake in the oven for about 30-35 mins, until the apples soften up and the topping gets golden brown. **Note: This recipe does not work with paper liners. #ontariomade #RegenAg #localrecipe #knowyourfarmer
