Dr. Phil Dunfore came back to the ROM for his fifth IAD. Here are two pictures if him telling folks about surgery during the War 1812! Appropriate for the 100th anniversary Armistice Day for WWI!
On Sunday, the AIA Toronto Society participated in the ROM's Family Day celebrating International Archaeology Day. We were set up in the Roman gallery on the third floor. We had three activities to introduce people to archaeological concepts: bones as artifacts, pots as artifacts and sites and context. Our volunteers talked to a lot of people and we had a lot of fun. Thanks to the 14 wonderful volunteers: Sophia Arts, Chey Cameron, Sofia Flores-Ledesma, Madeleine Fyles, Josh Humphrey, Brian Isard, Leah Long, Keren Merion, Meg Morden, Phil Mozel, Kathy Jo North, Tracy Spurrier, Christopher Wai, Stephanie Wai, and Julia Wyganowski. As you can see we were quite busy.
Make sure to come to the Royal Ontario Museum for the last day of March Break, to see Viking reenactors teach people how to live and fight like a Viking! The AIA Toronto Society is participating for the third year in making the ROMQuests in the ancient gallery a success. We have had over twenty volunteers, UofT students from Prof Kim's and Prof Ewald's classes, come and work in the ancient galleries to help people find the objects on the quests, and share their enthusiasm for the past.
