LET'S TALK ABOUT: Nausea & vomiting in pregnancy One of the most common symptoms in the first trimester is nausea and vomiting. You may notice that symptoms start around weeks 6-8 (about 2 weeks after your BFP!), and can disappear around the 20 week mark. Nausea and vomiting can also be quite severe lasting all throughout pregnancy, and this is called Hyperemesis gravidarum. First line treatments for mild to moderate nausea and vomiting include:... Ginger: Can be taken in a variety of ways - supplements, teas, and even chewable ginger Vitamin B6: Found in your prenatal, but you may consider increasing the dose of Vitamin B6 under the supervision of your ND Acupuncture: Many pregnancy-safe points can be done on the body to help ease your symptoms. If you're experiencing nausea and vomiting in the first trimester be mindful of becoming dehydrated. This looks like: dry lips, increased thirst, reduced urine output, dry skin, etc. Other things that can help you out during the first trimester are: Eating regular snacks to keep your blood sugar stable Eating a high protein snack or drink before bread Fresh, tart or sour tastes may help Salty foods like bone broth or miso may be better tolerated Rest as much as you can Check out my blog post here: http://bit.ly/firsttrimesternausea

LET'S TALK ABOUT: The 2-week wait Waiting for that big fat positive about 2 weeks after ovulation can be stressful - especially since pregnancies don't always happen after the first try. Not to mention, for those who have miscarried - sometimes the stressed feeling can last up until the end of the first trimester! A couple of ways to keep your mind off things:... Don't read too much into a change of body sensations Rest and relax... if possible Go for a walk Watch a funny movie Talk to a trusted friend/health professional At the end of the day, if you end up getting your period, things will be okay. It doesn't mean you've failed. A friendly reminder that 84% of couples get pregnant within 1 year of trying, while 92% get pregnant within 2 years of trying. Do you have any tried and true tips during the 2-week wait? Feel free to share them below!

LET'S TALK ABOUT: The fertility window Here's a little known fact - not everyone gets pregnant on the first try. Or the second. or the third. You may find yourself thinking that sex isn't so sexy anymore once you've been trying for a baby for a while - and that's totally normal. So when should you have sex to increase your chances at conception? If your partner has normal sperm parameters (done through sperm testing), having sex every 2-3 days in the fertile window would be ...beneficial. Pregnancies usually happen about 6 days before ovulation to the day of ovulation, although the highest rates are around 2 days before ovulation. Consider starting 5-6 days before ovulation, especially since sperm can survive within the vaginal canal for up to 5 days. Once you notice a shift in your BBT (if you’re tracking it), you can likely take a break until your next cycle - but hopefully you won't have one of those for a long time Although it’s easier said that done, don't get discouraged if you don't see a big fat positive right away. 84% of couples get pregnant within 1 year of trying, while 92% get pregnant within 2 years of trying.
