I still have a few things to do like put decorations on my walls but, I’ll get there when I get there! I am sooo incredibly greatful for everyone who gave me a helping hand, and for all of you who gave me getting started gifts like plants, decorations and door mats I really appreciate it! So far I have been fully booked and continuing to book into the future. I’ve ...seen some familiar faces and some new faces which is absolutely awesome! Thank-you everyone! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends. I am thankful for living in such a beautiful area. And I am so incredibly thankful for everyone who has helped me get my new clinic open. I definitely would not be able to do it on my own. There was a lot of work that had to be done from walls being put up, drywalling, painting, and giving it a good clean! So Thankyou again to all of those who stood by me, especially @colin.crawford23 I couldn’t h...ave done it with out you Enjoy your Thanksgiving everyone #thanksgiving #parrysound #windsweptwellnessclinic #muskoka #rmt #massagetherapy #massagetherapist

BIG NEWS With careful consideration and a lot of thought, I have made the big decision to leave Cottage Country Massage & Wellness and branch out on my own. I will be starting my own practice in Nobel, just 10 minutes out of Parry Sound. My last day at Cottage Country Massage & Wellness will be September 30, 2020. As of October 2, 2020, I will be starting at my own practice, Windswept Wellness Clinic, at 158 Nobel Road, Nobel. For those of you who are booked with me up unt...il and after September 30th, we will arrange for you to be either transferred to another therapist at the clinic or a transfer to my new space. The therapists at Cottage Country Wellness are extremely talented and knowledgeable, so you will be in good hands with whichever decision you go with. I really appreciate all of my clients who have been so loyal and dedicated to me the past 4 years! I have learned and grown a lot as a therapist and as a person from my amazing clients and of course the incredible therapists at Cottage Country Massage & Wellness. I would definitely not be where I am today without the support from my peers and clients. I am currently working on my new website so until then you can contact me directly if you need more information. 705-774-8218 [email protected]

No offering IASTM (Instrament Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)! This can be great for a few reasons. 1. Has the same benefits as a therapists hands when giving a massage/treatment. 2. Can make tissues (primarily fascia) glide. Which can improve mobility, circulation and decrease pain. 3. And of course it can save my hands ... Let me know if you’d like to try it!!

For those of you with Low Back Pain! Low back pain can be caused and aggravated by many things which can make it somewhat challenging to treat effectively and efficiently. One of the things that can contribute to chronic low back pain can be bending over to pick something up multiple times throughout the day rather then squatting down to grab it. ... Our legs and hips are built to carry weight/load and to be able to lift. Our backs/spine can manage weight/load too but it doesn’t have the same endurance and strength as your legs/hips. SO, rather then bending down every time to pick up whatever you need to grab, take the 1 extra second to squat down and use your legs! Your low back will thank you! #massagetherapy #parrysound #lowbackpain #RMT #laundryday

To our valued clients; Thank you all for your loyalty and support through the years, specifically these last few months and in our first month back trying to n...avigate our new normal. We are all excited about our return to work and already having had one month behind us to reconnect with our clients and the community. As you may be aware, part of our return to work requires every RMT in Ontario to complete mandatory training in areas such as hand hygiene, disease prevention and sanitization. In addition, as outlined by our governing college and the Ministry of Health, it is now mandatory that we stock specific Personal Protective Equipment such as disposable masks, mandated cleaners, disinfectants, detergents, hand sanitizers, cleaning cloths, etc. We take pride in providing the safest possible environment while maintaining the highest level of service for all our clients, while providing exceptional value for our services. These new industry standards have meant an increase in our operating expenses. We have had to make the difficult decision to update our fees to reflect these expenses going forward. As of August 1st 2020; fees for our services will be as follows: 30 Min Massage- $55.00 75 Min Massage- $115.00 45 Min Massage- $75.00 90 Min Massage- $135.00 60 Min Massage-$95.00 120 Min Massage- $155.00 Missed appointment- 75% of the appointment time missed These new fees as always will include HST and are a direct result of the challenges these uncertain times have brought. With that being said we fully support these new practices and procedures as they aim to provide the safest environment for both patient and provider. We are proud that within the local market our fees still offer excellent value to our clients. If you have any concerns or questions regarding this matter please feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to discuss the stipulations resulting in these changes. We are excited to move forward and look for to many more years of providing outstanding service at a fair and affordable rate. GLUTE STRETCH SEQUENCE It’s been a while since I’ve made a video and no better way to start it off again then with a glute stretching sequence! There are 3 stretches in this sequence. Start with the 1st one and progress to the 3rd if you can. Increasing the stretch with each exhale will give the best result. Take your time and do what feels good!:)... Make sure there is no PAIN! There should only be a slight pull and stretch feeling

First day back at it! Us girls at Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic are starting gradually. Some of us started today, and others are starting when they are ready. Keep in mind, treatments are only for those who need it, and we are only seeing a few clients a day. What we are doing to keep you safe:... -Wear a mask and change it between every client -Clean and disinfect everything (tables, stool, pillows, door handles, etc) -Continue to change sheets every client -Continue to throughouly wash hands before and after each treatment -Spreading our treatment times out to give us lots of time to clean and disinfect properly between clients. What clients must do: -Wait in their vehicle prior to their treatment until we call them to come in -Wear a mask the entire time -Pass screening questions -Use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the building If you have any questions just let me know!

EXCITING NEWS!! RMT's have been given the green light to start treating! However we have quite a few things to get into place before we can safely see you! Over the next few days we will be hard at work to get Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic back up and running to the new standard that we must meet.... Our governing body (the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario) has directed us to provide treatment to those who need it, and if the anticipated benefits of treatment outweigh the risks to the client and the RMT. Meaning, if you do not need a treatment right away and will feel okay for another few weeks then to please wait. We will do our best to see the clients that need treatment sooner rather then later. Keep checking back as we revile updates and information about the precautions we are taking and how treatments will work from now on. I know this is exciting but please be patient with us as we are trying to navigate the new guidelines and precautions that we must follow. If you have any questions just let me know! Looking forward to seeing you!

5MIN NECK STRETCHING ROUTINE This routine is perfect first thing in the morning, during a break at work or even when you’re sitting on the couch watching a show. Take your time, I did 3 breaths at each stretch but you can always do more! If your neck isn’t used to all of this movement/stretching I’d recommend doing 3 breaths at each and then in a day or 2 you can add more breaths. ... Make sure there’s is no pain! You should only be feeling a stretch/slight pull. If it doesn’t feel right then back off a bit. Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic

Give your neck some love today and everyday! You can do this while sitting at your desk, after a long drive, after a stressful day or whenever you want! Do 5-10 full breaths at each movement on both sides to get some relief Take your time and move with your breath. Each exhale trying to reach further and further. Make sure there’s no pain! You should be feeling a stretch, not pain. ... Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic #rmt #mobility #parrysound #neckpain #neckrelease

FOR HELP W/ FRONT SHOULDER PAIN If you’re sitting all day or do a lot of over head work, and especially if you just have pain in the front of the shoulder this one is for you! So let’s work on opening up the front of the shoulder! A good warm up before you do these would be gentle shoulder rolls forward and back. ... Make sure there is NO PAIN, discomfort and tenderness is okay but pain is not! Take your time and do what feels good. Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic

FOOT MASSAGE for planter fasciitis I actually got a request to do a video for PF, hopefully it helps a few of you too! Let’s give our feet some love! If your feet aren’t working properly then the rest of the body can’t absorb any force from your step properly. Which causes damage (planter fasciitis, knee pain, hip pain...). ... Take time to walk barefoot everyday, stepping heel to 2nd toe while keeping the knees bent (don’t lock your knees when you step!). This will help the muscles and joints in your feet start to function correctly! If you’re on your feet a lot in a day make sure your shifting your weight and distributing your weight evenly between both feet. Wearing wide shoes can help to so that the toes can spread out a bit. If your feet are hurting just remember there are muscles in your feet that can get sore when they are used more they they are used to! You have to train them just like any other muscle in the body. TO HELP WITH PLANTER FASCIITIS PAIN Using an ice pack on the bottom of the foot 5-10min, take the cold off for 15-20min. You can repeat 2-3times. Self massage (yourself, a loved one, one of your kids, or a ball) Be patient! Healing takes time, keep working on it! Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic

SHIN SPLINTS SELF MASSAGE ThIs is a quick and easy way to ease shin pain. Shin Splints is a blanket term for pathologies and issues that have the symptom of pain around the shin. Pain around the shin during/after a run or walk is normally due to the increased impact that your body goes through. ... When we take a step all of that force/impact goes through the foot into the leg and disperses through the body. If we have something blocking that path of force absorption, or if we are not stepping properly, then we start to develop pain because the path of absorption is disrupted. We can always work on better running/walking mechanics to help the body absorb the impact the way that it is supposed to. Which will help with decreasing the risk of Shin Splints. Working on foot/ankle/leg mobility as well as self massage can help with pain in the front of the shin. If you are experiencing sudden extreme pain and pressure in the lower leg consult your MD immediately. Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic

CALF & TIB ANT RELEASE with a FOAM ROLLER Here’s another one for all of you who have started walking and running more! The release techniques here mimics the Soft Tissue Release Techniques that I would do on my clients who have calf/shin soreness. However these aren’t quite as effective since you have to do it yourself and can’t quite get the same stretch in the tissues as a manual therapist could. But give it a try! And if you want a more advanced technique that is more... specific then a foam roller message me Take your time with all of these movements. Do what feels good. Discomfort and tenderness is okay but stop if there is pain! And make sure the foam roller is never directly on bone!

CALF MOBILITY (Gastroc and Soleus) It’s usually this time of year when I start seeing clients with calf and shin soreness! All this lovely weather makes people start walking and running more outside! Which is great but just like any muscle, when we start to use them more then what we are used to they can get sore thanks to DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). But that soreness shouldn’t be the reason you stop walking and running! I know there are other reasons for calf/sh...in soreness, and I’ll post about some of them later this week. I like the number 10 haha. Do 10 reps (exhale as you deepen the stretch and inhale as you back off slightly is 1 rep) each side. Especially after your run! Give it a try and let me know how it goes Cottage Country Massage & Wellness Clinic

HIP FLEXORS! Who’s been sitting and curling up on the couch more then normal? So let’s work on making sure our hip flexors are getting some much needed length instead of being shortened all day! This also forces you to engage your glutes! Which can in the long term help with hip and low back pain. ... Rather then focusing on pushing your hip forward, focus squeezing your one glute as hard as you can while still being able to breath normally. This will tilt your pelvis which forces the hip flexors to lengthen. Hold each contraction for 10 deep breaths and repeat as much as desired
