Happy January, clients! I would like to introduce you to the newest member of my family! My son Silas James Doyle was born a week late on January 11th, weighing a surprising 9.3lbs and we are SO in love. I brought him to the clinic today - we are still working on the eye coordination as you can see. I hope everyone is keeping safe and finding joy in the little things during this second shut-down. Please don't hesitate to contact me if needed - the best way during this time ...is via email ([email protected]) XOXO - Katie.
Today is my last day of work before my husband and I welcome our second child into this world. It is true I am excited to put my feet up before baby boy makes his arrival, however, I also love my work and will miss it during my short time away! From the bottom of my heart I want to THANK my wonderful clients for your trust in me during 2020. If there was ever a year to look at the glass half full, this was it. Returning to work in June gave me a new appreciation for this care...er that I love. From my family to yours MERRY CHRISTMAS! I will see you again in the spring :D Thank you also to my sister Emily Kestle for helping me these last few weeks at the clinic <3 REMINDER: Our lovely friend Brooke Robertson R.D.H. will still be seeing clients here on Tuesdays should any of my clients need a "bridge" cleaning with her I am happy to give you her contact information :)
We are SO excited and happy to be voted best Dental Hygienist in the 2020 Readers Choice Awards - thankyou! This year has brought new and unique challenges to how we provide dental care and I feel proud of my dental community for rising to the occasion. Healthy/clean gums = a stronger immune system which goes a long way these days :) <3
Humbled to have been nominated for the 2020 Readers Choice Awards for best Dental Hygienist :) Thankyou! You can follow the link below to vote! <3
I have high expectations with this client - because I complete her homecare I passed my own test, clean teeth and strong healthy grooves! This is great news considering her snacking has increased during this pandemic - frequent water during the day helps keep the pH in the mouth healthy. Another check-up in 6 months Lillybear!
We've had four days back in the clinic so far and want to send a massive THANK YOU to the clients we have seen. Everyone showed up on time, wearing their masks and headed straight for our "sanitize station" without any fuss! You have made re-opening my Dental Hygiene clinic during a pandemic a smooth positive experience for me. <3 I've now contacted everyone whose appointments were cancelled in March, April and May. Next I will be contacting clients who were due in those months but didn't have appointments booked. Enjoy this fabulous sunshine this week!
We had a fabulous first day back at the clinic. Clients were pre-screened before arriving, had their temperatures taken when they arrived and preformed hand hygiene before and after their appointments. We staggered our bookings so there were zero overlaps and only preformed non-aerosol generating procedures (good old hand scaling!!!). Our opening will be slow and gradual keeping the health of our community in mind - Mondays and Saturdays for now!
I visited my dearest friend Chantal today at her Dental Hygiene Clinic in Barrie - we've spoken almost daily since March 15th as we study and learn all we can about the current pandemic. Today we tried on all the PPE we will be wearing as we both start our gradual re-opening next week. With gowns, masks, face sheilds and gloves we felt it safe to quickly pose for this photo beside one another as this is certainly a time we will want to reflect back on later in life! Goodluck to all the health care practitioners in Ontario who are getting back work this week - please be patient with us as we get use to this way of working!
The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) has released its guidelines to help dental hygienists make sure that the place you receive your dental hygien...e care is safe in response to COVID-19 when offices open again. You have a role to play in making sure that you, your family, and other office visitors remain safe. Here's how you can help.
Check your emails later this morning for an update from us :)
CLINIC UPDATE - I don't have much to update :( We wish all the businesses who are back to work today a safe and prosperous re-opening! Routine dental procedures were not included in Ontario's stage-one plan. At this time I think it is most important that all PPE supplies be given to our front-lines. So we shall wait a little longer. In the meantime, Lilly is helping me keep up my skills. Just like everyone else will be doing, she had to pass my sterilization station before entering the clinic :)

My brother Tom has been living with my parents in Everett since the University of Waterloo closed about a month ago. Both my parents and my sister are working from home also, so it can be difficult to concentrate! He's been using my clinic to complete his school work (since it sits empty these days) and today he wrote his FINAL EXAM! I asked him to send me a photo when he finished - IM SO PROUD! My mom dropped these off at my doorstep this weekend as a little easter gift ... In a ziplock bag she had disinfect. What a time we live in! I do love her sense of humor and it absolutely made my weekend. I hope everyone found a bit of Easter cheer this weekend
This is the time to REALLY take care of your teeth and gums. When you leave plaque behind, your body turns "on" your immune system to reduce the bacteria in your mouth. Brush twice a day - really well! Floss daily and if you see bleeding rinse with warm salt water. Keep your mouth clean so your immune system can focus on other areas! It will also feel fabulous and be nicer for the people you are stuck inside with ;)
Came into the clinic today to dust and mop, and catch up on some office work. I find myself thinking of my clients and wondering how everyone is coping! Although stress and anxiety are high, I hope people are finding their silver lining amongst the fear. Mine is the time I'm spending with Lillian. Being self-employed I find a bit of my mind is always focused on my business. I have to admit, I don't think of work much these days - I'm taking a mental break and absorbing the happy little life of my 2 year old. To all my clients - stay safe and healthy
Good evening to our clients :) We have just received news that the RCDSO has strongly recommended that all non-essential and elective dental services be suspended immediately. Our communities health and well-being is of the UPMOST importance to us, we will therefore be closing our doors until it is considered safe to provide treatment again. If you have an appointment with us over the next few weeks we will be reaching out to you directly. I can still be reached via phone/em...ail so please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions/concerns. The RCDSO will be re-evaluating the situation the first week of April. I look forward to putting my scrubs back on, and providing my clients with the best care I can - I'll be here when this all blows over! Take care of each other <3 - Katie Kestle R.D.H.
On Saturday April 4th we will be joining Dental Hygienists across Canada in providing no-cost Dental Hygiene care. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing financial barriers in accessing preventative dental care have them call our office (705-434-0093).
Are you aware of the Healthy Smiles Ontario program for children? They cover dental services for children aged 17 and under. Below is a helpful link with lots of information!
Don't forget to brush and floss for your Valentines today! :) <3
Progress :) And a reminder we recycle ALL toothpaste tubes, brushes and empty floss containers here at the clinic :)
We are starting to receive questions/concerns from our clients about the coronavirus. Below is a fabulous link with great information - it is important not to be misinformed! As always, we use universal precaution with our infection control protocol and are receiving regular updates from our regulatory college on the situation. At the end of the day wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face :)
Always learning, always growing. This time on my couch with a cup of coffee and Chantal from River Rock Dental !!! Not bad :)
No... IT CANT BE! It's Alliston Dental Hygiene Clinic's fifth birthday this month - and we could not be more thankful and proud. Thank you to our beautiful clients and beautiful community. Cheers to many more years of teeth tickling! Time to eat some cake (and floss afterwards)!!!
One brave woman... cool!
Yes daily flossing (or using another inter-dental aid) is the key to keeping your teeth, but please... Don't do this.
It is normal to get butterflies before a dental cleaning - you may even feel like you need to hide in a pillow fort in hopes I don't see you. But once we get started your nerves will fade and you will feel proud of having your teeth cleaned
Progress! What a great way to end 2019 We wish everyone a happy healthy 2020
From my family to yours - I want to wish all my clients a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2020. A special thanks to every client who braved the snow this week to make it to their appointments - not a single cancellation! I am beyond grateful for your business, 2020 will be our best year yet!
Superheros get their teeth cleaned too! They know it's SO important for overall health and staying strong #oralhealth #networking @simcoespeechclinic
BROKEN on Netflix is a MUST WATCH, specifically on vaping, called "Big Vape" - describes how levels of lead (which affects your heart and IQ) and manganese (which is related to Parkinson's disease) in Juul vaping products - scary.
Waterflossers are on sale right now at the Alliston Shoppers drugmart! Give the gift of healthy gums this Christmas :D
Exciting news! "With this program, we are making sure Ontario's low-income seniors can age with dignity and enjoy the quality of life they deserve," said Premier Ford. "This is another concrete way our government is delivering on our commitment to end hallway health care and cut hospital wait times."
