Well it looks like there is no end to the material price increases, I really wish I could do something about it but I can’t, it is totally out of my control. So if I have given you an estimate please know there is a good chance it will be higher now. Not because I am raising my prices, it’s because of materials. So please do not blame and get mad at me, it’s not my doing. To everyone who understands and is still on my list.... Thank you. See more
I am a roofer. I am a weatherman. I am an H2O architect. I am on top always. I do the most important thing for a home for the least amount of value compensation. I fight gravity everyday all day. If I make a mistake I don’t go home to my family. My family goes hungry and homeless. My body aches of the weight I moved the previous day. I get up and do it again. I am the butt of every joke. The joke that my job site is covered in ice and I must remove literally nature to feed my... family. That it is 110 degrees on the roof and my customers expect perfection and I give them my best. The joke that my day is almost over and my supplier has shorted me and while I could finish I must come back a reset up tomorrow. I bleed every single day. I have fallen off slapped the dirt off my body and headed straight back to that ladder and went back to work. Roofers do not talk about falling off they go back to work and do not speak of it. My truck must run my compressor must run my gun must run my body must run my torch must run or my children do not eat. I must know an application for whatever every stupid human architect designer dreamer asshole ever came up with and make it waterproof in a f’n hurricane or it’s my fault. I could go on but it’s your turn.Post it! I am a roofer!

Good afternoon Nanaimo, I haven't posted in awhile so here it goes. Most people don't know this but materials and lumber prices have been going up non stop for the last few months, this is something out of my control and believe me I am not happy about it either. yelling at me and telling me that I should stand behind my estimate is not fair, to do so would cost me and I'm not in the business of doing jobs for free. I'm not the one raising prices on everything. The manufactur...ers of the products have informed that their hands are tied because they are short staffed due to most of their employees taking cerb checks and not wanting to work. so if you want to yell at anyone yell at the government for making lazy people even more lazy. yes there are many people who deserve these checks to help them and I don't blame them, it's the one's who are sitting at home doing nothing when they have a job they could go to. well here's a little info for those people. if you had work during covid and decided not to work and collected checks, you will have to pay that money back, plus a penalty per check. I as a business owner have to let the government know if I or any employees were affected by covid and unable to work and when I say no I have had lots of work and was not affected they will go after the employee. sorry for the long rant it's just been a long week and it's only Wednesday. hope everyone is happy and healthy. Had to walk off a job today, only the second time in over 30 years of roofing. Customer called in a panic to have us come in and finish a job he started, not willing to use proper synthetic or shingles. Tells me to do the work in a way I know is wrong and I refuse to do it. Starts yelling at me telling me my guy should have done it the wrong way anyway. I don’t normally do this but if any of my roofing buddies read this stay clear of the guy at 176 bird sanctuary. End of rant.
Heading to Ladysmith to do some work tomorrow if anyone needs me when I’m there.
Well 2020 is almost over and it's been a rough year for everyone. I would really like to thank my guys who work for me for all the hard work you do, you are very much appreciated. you are what makes this company successful. Arron, Will and Evan. I would also like to thank all of the wonderful customers we have done work for and all of their kind words and to the staff at Slegg lumber and DBL who put up with me. Merry Christmas to you all and a happy and better new year.

This is a public service announcement. This week I was notified by my suppliers that the cost of sheeting and shingles were going up and sheeting was going up allot. I have been trying to let my clients know about this and doing my best to keep the cost down. However on jobs that I have that required sheeting it is very hard to keep that cost down. Please understand that this is not my doing and it is completely out of my control. I have lost a few jobs because of this increa...se. If I were to do these jobs at the original estimate I would be doing them at zero profit and that would mean working for free and I don’t think anyone wants to work for free. So please do not blame me for something I can not control. See more
Well looks like the cash grab is starting, I was just informed the island is out of osb sheeting and the price has skyrocketed up to $28 a sheet and is due to go up another $5 in the coming weeks, if they can get it. On top of that shingle prices have also gone up. The rest of this year is going to be very expensive for homeowners and builders alike.
Still time to vote people and anyone can vote.
