In many cases components for assembled products need to be produced to tight tolerances to ensure they will fit, form and function. Aluminum extrusions can be produced with precision tolerances for certain profile features and applications but these tight tolerances can create challenges for complex and thin-walled designs. In a recent project, Prescientx was able to use an existing tool for a different application, creating something unique that addresses a high need amid the world’s current concerns. Originally the profile was designed for parts ALMAG supplied to Class 1 Inc. for a fixed UV ceiling light for various medical applications, and thanks to some Canadian ingenuity Prescientx is now able to u...se it for the world’s first purpose-built high volume conveyor style N95 mask UV disinfector. TERMINATOR CoV takes UVC N95 mask disinfection to the next level by optimizing speed, volume, process, and validation. It can disinfect up to 500 masks per hour due to the high-intensity UVC lamps that work with the reflective aluminum tunnel. In the midst of so many recent industry changes, the introduction of ALMAG’s new Made possible. brand has already been put to the test! As everyone is redirecting and new products are being developed for manufacturing, we were recently asked to extrude a Y-shaped fitting for oxygen supply lines. The team at ALMAG was able to source a new extrusion tool, extrude the material at the press, design and build a CNC fixture, fabricate the part and have the first off samples for t...he customer in only 8 days.
