Since February 7th Haiti has been suffering from a political and economic crisis. Which has made it impossible for us to get urgently needed supplies from Port au Prince. Yet, we were able to meet our critical needs thanks to supplies shipped by Project C.U.R.E., Centura Global Health Initiatives (GHI), Karla Prentiss, and all those who made the shipment and organization of the shipment possible,

Thank you to Project C.U.R.E. for providing our nurses with Helping Babies Breathe training which provided evidence based program that teaches neonatal resuscitation techniques. This week 6 more of our nurses are being trained in these life-saving techniques. Karla Prentiss

Alma Mater Hospital welcomed the first of 9 Atria Connect Teams last week. Over the next 3 months the teams will help instruct and guide our physicians in the art of point of care ultrasound diagnostics. Atria Connect is equipping our physicians with portable ultrasound devices sponsored by Philips Lumify to allow us to provide higher quality and quicker care to our patients. Thank you, Atria! Recently our area has experienced an outbreak of Diptheria which has led to the death of 3 children including 2 in the past two weeks. Diptheria is one of the vaccines provided for free by the government yet so many children are still unvaccinated. Since the beginning of the outbreak our community health team has been determined to intensify their efforts to vaccinate more people, especially in the affected area, and to also provide education on signs and symptoms of Diptheria. Please pray that these efforts may slow down the spread of the disease. Below is a picture of our community health team just before they left on a vaccination campaign prepared with vaccines and a loud speaker ready to inform and educate and save lives.

Work on the outpatient and administration renovation project has restarted! Please continue to pray this project as we work to finish.

Mosquito nets have been installed in the maternity and pediatric wards which help keep our patients safe from mosquito borne illness while at the hospital. Thank you to the donors who helped support this project!
