To this day when faced with a difficult decision I still often ask, "What would Guy do?" Guy Lacelle was and remains an icon of of the ice climbing world. He s...oloed difficult, remote ice routes repeatedly, often accompanied only by his beloved dogs. I was lucky and climbed a fair amount with Guy over the years, and remember every day. Last winter @huens and I had some good times biting into some Quebec classics Guy had done (Pomme d'Or!) and putting up new routes he would have enjoyed. Guy was was a man of integrity, honesty, passion, burning desire, righteous anger and soft compassion. He also didn't tolerate bullshit in himself or others, and examined his own world carefully. I really admired him as a person and climber, and when he died ten years ago in a relatively small avalanche we lost one of our best. I believe I am one of the very few to catch Guy in a pure ice climbing fall, and will never forget that day or the many others we shared. Sometimes the best part was the slow (Guy drove at a glacial pace) drives where he drink his orange juice and say deep things while I'd rip back Red Bulls and groove on his words. I'll share the "day I caught Guy" whipper story sometime, but this new Arc'teryx film does a really nice job, great to see Guy's wife Marge in there as well! Good memories of summiting Lefroy, but not so much the long hike out to EP hut right after. The dogs were barking!
