Anchored Physiotherapy 16.09.2020

Spent last weekend learning about external assessment and treatment options for female athletes (not just runners) related to pelvic health and improving performance. Ive been able to implement many of these practical strategies for a variety of clients, young and old, who enjoy all kinds of physical activity (walking, running, CrossFit, spin, gardening, etc). Thank you @juliewiebept for such an excellent course!

Mobile & Virtual Physiotherapy Effective July 1st, we will no longer have our physical location at 215 - 6th Street, as we are moving to a remote model of care offering virtual (online video consults) and mobile (home/work/gym/outdoor) physiotherapy services only. Dependent on demand, 1-2 times a month, we will host in person clinic visits at a satellite location on a first come first served basis. If you wish to have an in person clinic visit, please head over to our boo...king page https://anchoredphysiotherapy.janeapp.com/ or call/text 204-740-0030 to add yourself to the waitlist so we can contact you with more information regarding date, time, and location. At this time, we will continue with this model for the foreseeable future. I understand not everyone will be interested in the virtual or mobile visits, so please let me know if you would like some help finding an in person clinic to suit your needs, as I will be happy to refer on if you wish to ensure you are able to get the continued care you require. *Mobile visits available within Brandon at a flat service rate. Mileage will be added to service rate if visit is outside Brandon. Mileage quote will be provided prior to visit* Both mobile and virtual physiotherapy visits continue to be covered by many insurance companies and direct billing remains in place. I do suggest checking with your insurer prior to your visit to confirm coverage, as coverage can differ from plan to plan and insurer to insurer.

Postpartum Physio Care at Home Those first few weeks/months can be overwhelming with a new babe whether its your first or you have multiple children to care for. It can be challenging to schedule appointments for your own care when your priority is now focused on your new arrival and your family. I want to make it easier for moms to receive the care they need too! Examples of areas we can address:... Breathing, core, and pelvic floor reconnection Bowel care (constipation or incontinence) C-section management Gradual return to exercise and strengthening Scar (from stitches) management Return to or improve painful sexual intercourse Pelvic pressure or pelvic organ prolapse Diastasis recti If youre feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or have questions and need guidance in any of the areas above within those first 6 weeks or beyond, Id be happy to schedule your appointment in the comfort of your own home (within Brandon) to make things a little easier for you. Happy Mothers Day to all!

We were in Flin Flon, MB today for a virtual Physiotherapy assessment of a 60 something year old who sustained an arm injury. Loving the TeleRehab/virtual Physiotherapy option for those that dont want to come in for an in person visit, dont have access to a Physiotherapy clinic close by, or dont have the time to travel. You just need to be a resident of Manitoba to access virtual Physiotherapy services. Not just for young people. The technology is secure and encrypted and provides direct links via email to access applications/web access, intake forms, and video conference software to allow for easy set up prior to your appointment!

To our valued clients As you have likely heard, the Government has given the green light for Physiotherapy clinics to open their doors to non-urgent in person visits as of May 4, 2020 by following specific strict guidelines and precautions. Obtaining appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and following the guidelines and precautions recommended by the Government, Public Health officials, the College of Physiotherapy of Manitoba, and the Canadian Physiotherapy A...ssociation is our main focus to ensure the safety of all our clients, families and staff. At this time, we will remain closed for in person visits, but will continue to provide TeleRehab/Virtual Physiotherapy visits. We will continue to evaluate an appropriate opening date in the future for in person visits, as we are able to obtain the appropriate PPE and implement the safety guidelines necessary to ensure safe care for all. Online booking will be posted on our website one week in advance and with a limited capacity. If you do not see a time slot that works for you, please do not hesitate to call or email us, as other options may be available that are not showing up online. If you are unsure about TeleRehab/Virtual Physiotherapy visits, please contact us or go online to book a FREE 15 min virtual visit to trial the video system and discuss with the Physiotherapist if this option is appropriate for your situation. 204-571-1891 [email protected] www.anchoredphysiotherapy.com Thank you very much for your patience, ongoing support, and understanding during this time. Todays virtual office. With a couple examples from today: Neck - herniated disc/pain management Frozen shoulder management... There are many many conditions and injuries that can be helped with a virtual appointment. Not exactly the same as an in person visit (no passive or hands on treatments) but you can still receive a lot of education, self-management recommendations and exercise programs related to your condition to get you well on your way to feeling and moving better. Most insurers are now covering these visits! Check with your specific plan provider to make sure prior to your appointment. See more

Is it safe to start a new exercise routine when youre pregnant? Short answer: Yes! Long answer: Yes, but there are some things to consider:... Youre considered an uncomplicated/low risk pregnancy by your healthcare provider Youre healthcare provider has cleared you for exercise or exercise within certain parameters You consider your level of activity prior to pregnancy and build gradually from there The new activity carries a low level of physical risk to you or your baby (ie: maybe no contact sports) Modify exercises, positions, volume, and/or intensity that cause pain, are uncomfortable, or cause pelvic floor symptoms Unsure where to start or how to progress/regress/modify? A womens health physiotherapist can help! Same goes for returning to exercise postpartum. See more

Preparing for delivery At about 35/6ish weeks, you might want to think about trying to relax your pelvic floor to help make delivery easier if youre planning for a vaginal delivery. This may also decrease chances of tearing or decrease the degree of tear (some evidence to support this but not a guarantee). Here are a few stretches and suggestions to start implementing about a month out from your due date: Deep relaxed squat (hold on for support if needed)... Butterfly sitting Sitting on an exercise ball Happy baby pose Childs pose (with or without a ball) Perineum massage or ball release (DM me for details) Deep belly breathing and thinking about dropping your pelvic floor (not bearing down) Spend 5-10 min a day doing the options you find most comfortable and you feel a gentle stretch. Hold for 1-5 min per movement. Sit on the ball as long as you like. Ensure all movements are pain free and comfortable. If not, you may want an individualized program set up for you by your pelvic health physiotherapist. @ Brandon, Manitoba See more
