Do you know how you can be a one-woman hem marking device? We will tell you right now! To mark a hem without a helper, stretch a string tautly across a doorway at the desired hem height, and tack or tape it to the jamb on both sides. Then dust bath powder onto the string. With the unhemmed garment on, brush lightly against the powdered string, which transfers a light dusting onto the garment at the correct height. Remove the garment and finish the hem. It will be perfectly parallel to the floor. This works great for skirts, dresses, and coats.

Fun Fact Friday! Did you know that the North Shore was not officially apart of the City of Kamloops until November 4th, 1967! Before then it was the Village of North Kamloops for 21 years. The land of the North Shore was mostly residential settlement, and on November 1st, 1946 it became the Village of North Kamloops. The start of November is very substantial to the history of "The Shore". Checkout the photo we attached & compare it to what Kamloops looks like now. The photo shows the construction of the Overlanders Bridge downtown. Photo courtesy of the Kamloops Museum and Archives.
