What a wonderful morning! Archdeacon Perry Cooper led Saint George's family in our opening service in the church since the closure of churches in March. We have enjoyed our time of outdoor worship this summer but it is good to be back in our sanctuary. We will have a service of Morning Prayer next Sunday (Sept. 20) at 10:00 am. On the following Sunday (Sept 27), Canon Richard McConnell will lead us in a service of Holy Eucharist. We continue to follow all precautions as required by Public Health.

Tomorrow - Sunday - we will have our "Bells and Music and Readings and Prayers" at 10:00 am. We were finding it very hot outside at noon these last few weeks so we will give it a try at our regular service time.

From the Wardens. Edith and Myrna had a meeting with our Archdeacon, the Ven. Perry Cooper last week. He felt our brief time of readings and prayers outdoors on Sunday was a very good idea for the summer months. If our area continues to be free of Covid-19, he will come up on September 13 for a service of Holy Communion in the church. We will be in contact with everyone closer to that date. We would like to remind anyone who accesses the building to leave your name and number in the notebook on the desk in the hall. Hand sanitizer is provided and disinfectant wipes should be used on anything that is handled.

Just dropped in to the Volunteer Centre with the bags of groceries which were donated yesterday at our noon-hour "Bells and Readings and Prayers" time. Thank-you to everyone who dropped off items. We received three big "thank-you's" from the staff. We'll put the donation box out again on Sunday for those who wish to add items.

A Message From Your Wardens at St. George's. For some time, the bells at St. George's - and many other churches across the country - have been rung on Sundays at noon for ten minutes. Gradually, a few members have begun to gather, in the parking lot, on the sidewalk, across the street, just to listen to the bells and participate in a silent worship in their cars or standing by their cars. It has been lovely to wave or say hello to one another and enjoy the few minutes of f...ellowship. Every attempt at physical distancing was made. The question arose weekly: "When can we be in church again?" Now, that we are back to eased restrictions, we are able to consider this. The bishop has stated that no church is compelled to open if they feel it is not viable. In conversation with some of our church family, we feel that many are still uncomfortable with returning to regular services in the building. Last Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, two of the Lay Readers led in brief readings and prayers from the church steps following the ringing of the bells. Today, again, we had a few minutes of readings and prayers. Your Wardens feel this could be a comfortable way to return gradually to worship and fellowship as we continue to work toward re-opening the church building. We would love you to join us next Sunday at noon for The Ringing of the Bells and Parking Lot Prayers. We will be contacting our church family shortly to hear their thoughts and concerns as we decide how to move forward. See more
