From Bishop-Elect Sam: As we prepare for the Consecration on Tuesday, I ask you a question: "What do you believe the role of the Bishop should be in today's Church?"... Please feel free to comment below.

November 20, 2020 Delegates to the Sixth Electoral Synod I write to inform you that the Venerable Josiah Noel, Archdeacon, has withdrawn his name from consideration to the Office of Bishop. Thus, his name will not appear on the Electoral Synod ballot. ... I know I share the sentiments of all in our Diocese when I express our sincerest thanks for his offering of leadership at this time. We are blessed by his ministry in our midst. Regards Canon Bradford Wicks, Chancellor Chair of the Episcopal Nominating Committee Sixth Electoral Synod The Anglican Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador
Very thankful for our Primate Archbishop Linda Nicholls and Metropolitan Archbishop David Edwards for offering a time of prayer and reflection online this evening for our Diocesan Clergy in thanksgiving for the life and witness of our beloved Bishop Geoff.
"Be still, and know that I Am God" (Psalm 46:10) As we prepare for the Consecration and Installation of the Bishop on Tuesday December 15th, I humbly ask that for the few days ahead that you take 5-10 minutes daily to enter into silence and listen for God's voice speaking to you. Let us be still for just a few minutes each day and in the silence hear God speak to our hearts. Even if you think you don't hear God, know that God is present and is listening to you. - Bishop-Elect Sam

It's so easy to think that everything during a pandemic is difficult and negative. But behind the scenes there is still so much good work going on! Members of o...ur Church Choir and Women's Friendship Group got together to sew singers' masks for our church choir. By doing them assembly-line style, they were able able to produce lots of masks in a great variety of colours and sizes. Because of their work, our choir was able to meet for the first time, safely distanced in the church, to enjoy music and fellowship. When the Guidance Councillor at East Point Elementary, our neighborhood school, indicated that they could use hats and mittens for the children, the knitters of the Women's Friendship Group rose to the challenge!! A bag of beautiful hats and mittens was dropped off this week. Sharing our time and talents...even in a pandemic. A gift of love! Thank you!

Today is United Nations #WorldChildrensDay. Ensuring children, especially girls, have an education is vital. In Kenya, many girls don’t get to go to school beca...use they have to walk long distances to collect water for their families. Installing water wells closer to families can make it easier for children to go to school. https://pwrdf.org/worldofgifts See more

After many years of prayer and reflection, the Church of St. Luke in Placentia was Deconsecrated on October 19 (keeping the Feast Day of St. Luke). While the b...uilding will no longer hold public worship services, it will continue to find new life as ownership of the building was transferred to the Placentia Area Historical Society. The Congregation and the Diocese are pleased to see this historic building continue to have a purpose in the community. Photos by Anita O'Keefe. See more
Important Letter to the People of the Parish of the Holy Trinity October 19, 2020 Parish of the Holy Trinity... PO Box 9 Whitbourne, NL A0B 3K0 My Dear Friends in Christ, After consultation with your Rector, and with direction from her Physician, I write to advise you that I am placing the Rev’d Lisa Payne on medical leave from her duties effective immediately until November 30, 2020. Should this information change, you will be contacted in due course. Rev. Lisa will reside in the Rectory in Whitbourne during her recovery, but she will not be performing priestly ministry in the Parish during this time of medical leave. I have arranged for pastoral coverage in the short term with area clergy for emergencies such as funerals. I respectfully ask that you refrain from contacting the Rector for matters pertaining to church business and please refer all calls to the Wardens in each congregation should you require assistance. I look forward to meeting with your Parish Council next week to plan a way forward. I know this does not need to be asked, but please keep Rev’d Lisa and her husband Glenn and their family in your daily prayers as she recovers. She will be receiving pastoral care and ministry from one of our Diocesan clergy. Please be assured that she will be cared for and supported in the days ahead. I offer you this prayer for Lisa: "God of all comfort, our very present help in trouble, be near to Lisa. Look on her with the eyes of your mercy; comfort her with a sense of your presence; preserve her from the enemy; and give her patience in affliction. Restore her to health, and lead her to your eternal glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." In Christ’s love, The Venerable Sam Rose Diocesan Administrator
