I am blessed with the gift of time this afternoon to "sit" with this elephant and the man who plays music for him. It brings me to tears to share the special connection. As It Is In Heaven, a beloved Swedish movie, crossed once again my path today. This particular scene is about the woman Gabriella, who for years has been physically abused by her husband. When she joins the local choir she needs to make a choice. To continue to be quiet or to claim her strength - and in this case her voice. At the local Christmas concert she sings for the first time in front of an audience. A song that eventually leads her to freedom and power. When Anger balances with Joy This morning, as I was looking for the herd to lead them to their day pasture, I could see hoof prints leaving the property. Last night someone had left the Horse Gate to my property open. I tried to track them for a while, but the gravel road is hard and dry, therefore prints are hard to see. Since there are no fences beyond my property, the horses could have gone anywhere. As I stood there in the middle of the gravel road, I felt the Anger bu...bble up inside of me - about the carelessness and lack of integrity of the person who had left the gate open, which now left me with the residue of that action. But when Anger was just about to rule my actions, I remembered to call them. Musie, Sassy, Royal, Dude, Red!! Half a minute later I could hear a nicker with Musie coming out of the bush just a bit down the road. As she trotted towards me she kept nickering. Within another half minute the whole herd was walking towards me with a mutual Oh, here you are we were wondering As I turned around to walk with the herd at liberty to the day pasture I was still filled with Anger. And just as my mind wanted to gallop off once again with that emotion and deciding that I would give that person a piece of my mind about leaving gates open, it all of a sudden dawned on me just how much Loyalty the Herd had shown me this morning. They chose to leave the adventure and wilderness behind to come to ME. And in this moment the true Magic inside of me hit home when I realized that the Anger can stay in place while Joy stands by its side. The one doesnt have to outweigh the other. Both are justified. And with that I was able to breathe deeply into my peace. As the Horses and I continued quietly to walk through the beautiful mountain forest, I realized that that Loyalty displayed by the Horses reflects that it can now be recognized within myself. To be loyal to myself means choosing integrity in my actions. The balancing of Anger and Joy had become a gateway to access my innate knowingness.
