With the vaccination roll-out in motion, we're a step closer to seeing all of your faces again! Our team has started getting their vaccinations. A HUGE REMINDER: At this point, it is not clear if the vaccination prevents individuals from spreading the virus to other people. For this reason, everyone vaccinated or not must continue to mask, practice physical distancing and maintain hand hygiene! Did you know that women are still underrepresented in leadership roles in Canada? According to the Canadian Women's Foundation, "Women hold only 25% of vice-president positions, and 15% of CEO positions. [Also], women are 30% less likely than men to get promoted out of an entry-level position, and 60% less likely to move from middle management into the executive ranks." Today is International Women's Day, and we're proud of our wonderful women leading our clinics towards ...fertility innovation and breaking the glass ceiling . Let's all #choosetochallenge and forge a gender equal world. For more statistics on women in leadership roles and resources to encourage more women into leadership roles, visit https://canadianwomen.org/the-facts/women "Alone, a woman is a root curling for change, But together, women are a forest alive with spirit: a riotous power, the most timeless pact, a call to act, to all those who hear it." - Amanda Gorman See more

One of the most common comments about fertility treatment is how stressful the entire process can be. Let's pause, breathe, and take care of ourselves. Studies have shown that the majority of fertility patients both women and men report signs of anxiety and depression. As Ontario will soon start with phase one of COVID-19 vaccine rollout, we wanted to keep our community up to date with the recommendations regarding the safety of the vaccine. The Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society released on Friday the following statement: "COVID-19 vaccine trials did not include pregnant people. Therefore, there is no data at the present time to suggest or deny efficacy or safety during pregnancy. It is our understanding that future studies may inclu...de pregnant people, and we will have data indicating both safety and effectiveness in this population in the coming months. Additionally, for those who are planning pregnancies, ongoing surveillance of people who have been vaccinated will identify those who subsequently became pregnant. Their pregnancies will be analyzed for any adverse outcomes. CFAS is establishing a COVID-19 vaccine and pregnancy committee with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) and we look forward to releasing subsequent joint statements in the future. In the interim, the CFAS continues to advocate the use of hand washing, masks, social distancing and adherence to the policies of local public health authority to minimize the spread of COVID-19." We will keep you posted as more information become available.

Finding the right egg donor can be an exhausting process. Luckily, Simon, our daddy-to-be vlogger, has some valuable tips for you in the latest The Daddy Project episode. In this episode, Simon covers the process of selecting the egg donor, the medical screening, the embryo creation, and embryo grading. Things to remember when you are choosing your donor:... Age 21-30 Healthy BMI (below 40) No chronic medical conditions Must have no addictions Must have two ovaries Physically and emotionally healthy Key facts about embryo grading: Embryos created in the lab are graded by the embryology team to determine which embryos have the best appearance under the microscope and will have the best chance to implement. The score includes one number followed by two letters (the combination of a number above 3 with the letters AA or AB is considered to have the highest chances of ). It's Movember, and we are helping to change the face of men's health by increasing awareness of common men's health issues. Here are the top 5 things worth knowing about men's health, both physical and mental: 1. Stay connected: Your friends are important, and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check-in, and make time. 2. Talk, more: You don't need to be an expert, and you don't have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening, an...d giving your time can be life-saving. 3. Know the numbers: At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it's right for you to have a PSA test. If you are of African or Caribbean descent, have a father or brother with prostate cancer, or another known risk factor, you should be having this conversation at 45. Know your numbers, know your risk, talk to your doctor. 4. Know thy nuts: Get to know what's normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn't feel right. 5. Move, more: Add more activity to your day. Do more of what makes you feel good. Did you know Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men, yet 44% of men don't know how to perform a testicular self-examination 1 in 7 men in Canada will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and early detection is the key. There is a 98% chance of survival beyond 5 years Learn more about testicular and prostate cancer in the following links https://ca.movember.com/mens-health/testicular-cancer https://ca.movember.com/mens-health/prostate-cancer #prostatecancer #menshealth #testicularcancer #movember

Flu season is here and getting the flu shot has never been more important. Especially when COVID-19 and the flu have so many similar symptoms. While the flu vaccine will not protect you against COVID-19, it will protect you from the flu or reduce the severity of illness from the flu. It will also prevent our health care system from being overwhelmed with additional patient visits. Flu shots are recommended to everyone but especially if you are trying to conceive, pregnant o...r breastfeeding. To protect yourself and your loved ones, book an appointment with your doctor or local pharmacy to receive your flu vaccination. Get the flu shot not the flu. Check for flu shot availability here https://www.toronto.com/news-story/10224833-flu-shot-in-stock-these-search-engines-will-tell-you/ #Fluseason #flushot

#repost @elenaclub What's the best age to freeze my eggs? The sooner, the better, since that's when you're most likely to have the highest number of high-quality eggs. That said, it's something considered most between ~25 to ~37. Those over 37 still have a chance to secure viable eggs, but you should get a fertility test to understand how many eggs you have left. Join Dr. Dixon and Alyssa Lilia next Thursday, Oct 29, at 6pm to learn more about your options. In honour of pregnancy and infant loss awareness month, we would like to share this beautiful essay written by Gabrielle Roesch for @pregnantish. In this piece, Gabrielle explores how she navigated her three miscarriages while (it seemed) all of her friends were starting families. She also talks about how she found the strength to keep pursuing her dream, and finding peace no matter the ending. This month is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, which affects 1 in 4 women. While miscarriages are more common than we often acknowledge, they can have devastating psychological effects. Unfortunately, many women & couples feel isolated and alone in their grief. We are here to break the silence and stigma, and remind you that no matter the stage, your baby existed and mattered. You are beloved, and your pain is valid. While there are no instructions on how to grieve ...or heal, it is important to know you are not alone. Online and in-person support groups may offer ways to ease the pain. . We also work with several counsellors who can help you and your loved ones with the healing process. Contact us for more details. . If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a baby or pregnancy, please check the resources we've added on Anovalife.com https://anovalife.com/breaking-the-silence-around-miscarri/ . #pregnancyloss #miscarriage #grief #infertility #RPL #pregnancyandinfantloss #pregnancylossawarenessmonth #fertilityclinic #Torontofertilityclinic #anovafertility
