Remembering Martha Coffey 1943-2016 Today was her birthday. She had just turned 74 when she died. She would have been 78 today, and we're sure would still be training and racing. She was a Branksome Hall graduate, accomplished masters rower and Rowing Canada Aviron umpire. The Head of the Trent retired her bow number (#134) and it has not been used since then. She was a Board member, an ARC President, an umpire (she was Chief Umpire at the Hogtown Heats and Frostbite Sprints...), a booster of the Juniors program, a volunteer (she helped with everything) but most of all, she was a friend. She welcomed everyone who came through the gate for their first time, and she remembered names! We look at the water and speculate as to whether or not Martha would row through those gaps (the gaps are rolly today!) She is very much missedevery day Donations can be made in memoriam to the Spirit of Martha Coffey Junior Development Fund to support the development of Junior athletes in the sport of rowing. https://donate.micharity.com//2/marthacoffeyfund/5/donate
