It's Throwback Thursday! Here is another Argus history moment we would like to share with you. The Mori Seiki DTL-500 B was our first CNC machine here at Argus. Purchased in early 1977, one of our founders, Tommy, saw the potential in CNC machines in our industry and decided to invest in this piece of equipment. The Mori was fully installed and operational by June 1977. This machine was originally programmed by our engineers using punch tapes, having upgrades throughout the ...years to modernize the process but remaining mechanically sound. It was not retired until 2010, truly speaking to the quality of the machine and the maintenance received over the years. The Mori was purchased for $87,075 CAD in 1977, which would be equivalent to $$340,316.05 CAD today. See more

The observation of Remembrance Day is to acknowledge and remember those who have served and continue to serve our country throughout times of war, conflict, and peace. Reflecting on this, we come to understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by our fellow Canadians. Here we are, Part 4 and our final installment of our #ThrowbackThursday anniversary series! We’ll look at what happened from the 2000’s onward at Argus Machine. We broke ground and built our Nisku location in 2001, going on to double its size with an addition to the facility in 2004. This expansion could not have come at a better time. With the development of geothermal oil production in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, Argus was called upon to provide premium threadi...ng services as the demand for connections which could withstand thermal temperature cycling increased dramatically. 2014 marked the passing of our founders, Tommy Hallett and Albert Kranenburg. The ownership of Argus was passed to a team of Argus employees. This engendered a commitment to carry on Tommy and Albert’s legacy, while maintaining their direction and guidance for long term success. In late 2019 we welcomed Precimax Mfg. to the Argus Family. With over 44 years of precision manufacturing experience, Precimax brings a solid reputation for quality and customer satisfaction to our team. We are pleased to now offer EDM Machining (electrical discharge machining), as well as additional CNC lathe and milling capacity to strengthen our manufacturing division. Argus has endured many economic ups and downs through our journey but have managed to carry on thanks to the groundwork laid by our founders and the work of the Argus team. We reflect with gratitude on the strength and teamwork of our peers and look forward to applying that in this new decade! Happy 62nd Anniversary to Argus, here’s to many more!
