I told myself (and @michedengate) that I would try to not become one of those dog moms that only posts about her new baby, but honestly, Lilly has had the hardest week of her short little life already. Her little 6lbs/3month old body got so overwhelmed with the travel from Texas to London this past weekend, she was hospitalized last night from dehydration, exhaustion and lack of nutrition. This morning she woke up fresh, energized, happy and completely well! She’ll be home ...later this weekend, and I want to thank @texaschihuahuarescue for such a lovely angel that has entered my life and for helping us through the process of making sure that everything with her is well. I feel blessed for having her in my family and also for having such an incredible organization look after her even after they’ve given her to me in adoption. This is what big hearts are all about! Rock on Lilly, my little warrior! Why did I choose to get a dog that came ALL THE WAY from Texas? Because Chihuahuas are the second most euthanized breed in Texas, and adopting Lilly meant saving 2 lives: hers, and the dog that would take her spot in the shelter in Texas. I highly recommend adopting from organizations that have the best interest for their animals and are not in it just for the profit. Also, @avillagetail received Lilly with open arms, giving the best advice on how to raise her, keep her healthy and create a loving home. meraki: the Greek word for always leaving a part of yourself in every piece of art that you create. I got this tattoo as a reminder that when I’m using this hand to write, to hold the microphone, to paint a picture, strumming my guitar, etc, the biggest part of my heart must always be put into and stay in all of my creativity. Every song, every poem, every story, every picture must always be inspired through genuine sincerity and never be hidden by shame, guilt or fear. Wha...t is the biggest and best part of my heart? Simple. It’s Jesus. Without my relationship with Christ I don’t know that I would have the courage to speak up, be willing to make a difference, and have a brand new heart of respect and love.
