Reminder: no piano tomorrow or Monday. Wishing everyone a wonderful thanksgiving weekend!
Hello everyone, As I’m sure you're aware our Zone has moved back to the Orange Level. Although technically I could continue holding in-person piano lessons because students and I wear masks and I have procedures in place as per the re-opening plan required by the province, I feel the prudent choice is to press pause on lessons for the time being. While we’re in the Orange Zone I think it makes sense to minimize the amount of in-and-out traffic in my home and with students c...oming from different schools I want to be as cautious as possible and help keep everyone safe. I know students will be concerned about what this means for our annual recital, which this year was to be happening virtually with their recital pieces recorded at their last lesson. I don’t have a good answer for that right now as it will depend on what the next few weeks look like in our Zone, but please encourage students to continue to practice and let them know we’ll definitely have a recital either way it just might mean we’re enjoying Christmas music in the new year! :) If you’d like to try out virtual lessons with FaceTime or Zoom please let me know. This worked beautifully for many students this spring. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions at all. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe! I will miss seeing everyone's happy (masked) faces but have my fingers crossed this will be just a small bump in the road and that we’ll be able to return safely to in-person lessons in the near future. Elizabeth
Don’t forget Daylight Savings Time! Piano lessons today are an hour later than what your kitchen clock might be telling you.

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to have students returning tomorrow and Monday. Parents received an email reminder this morning and are asked to review the changes and Public Health requirements outlined in the email. Remember...... - Masks are required; don’t forget to bring one because I can’t let you in without it! - No backpacks or other personal belongings are to be brought in to the studio (bring your piano book only) - Only one student permitted inside at a time (exception for siblings); door will be locked between lessons - Each lesson will end a few minutes early to allow for sanitization between students - Students will be admitted into the studio based on the health/travel criteria outlined on this poster; do NOT attend lessons if you have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19 Please reach out with any questions. Thank you and see you soon!

Today is Ruby’s 1st birthday! She and I both very much miss the great company we’re used to on Sundays and Mondays. I’ve had the pleasure of doing virtual lessons with some students but I look forward to greeting everyone in person at some point in the (hopefully not TOO distant) future! Hope everyone’s taking good care in the meantime. P.S. Ruby had delicious sardines and a nice long hike to celebrate her big day!
Day 2 of virtual piano lessons was a great success! Huge thanks to my awesome students and their innovative parents for the creative setups that allowed for seamless, productive lessons!

Hello everyone! I just sent the follow message to parents as an email but thought I’d post it here too. An update on piano lessons... As NB has moved into the Yellow Phase I thought I’d reach out with an update. As there are only a few weeks left before piano lessons would have normally come to a close, I’ve decided that I will not be resuming in-person lessons for the time being. The looser restrictions of the Yellow Phase are brand new and we know that our position in thi...s phase is precarious. With my piano studio being in my home and my own close friends and family now being able to visit I don’t feel it makes sense to risk anyone’s health for the sake of a few weeks of lessons. Virtual lessons will continue for a few more weeks for those who wish, the final lessons being Sunday, June 14th and Monday the 15th. I will be in touch in August about Fall lessons and it is my hope that NB is in a position at that time that it’s safe to resume our regular schedule. I have truly missed seeing my wonderful students each week. I can’t wait to see each of them when things get back to a somewhat more normal state. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these circumstances together. I hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the beautiful sunshine this weekend! Elizabeth

NOTICE TO PARENTS, RE: COVID-19 With the health of my students (and those with whom they come in contact) top of mind, as a precautionary measure piano lessons this Sunday (March 15th) and Monday (March 16th) will be cancelled. I will be in touch next week about lessons on the 22nd/23rd, but in preparation for the possibility of a longer-term hiatus for from face-to-face lessons I anticipate making virtual lessons available (e.g. via Skype/FaceTime) for those who wish. Havi...ng sought advice from experienced teachers in the Toronto area who taught during the SARS epidemic I feel confident this could be a good solution. Part of my thinking is that many parents might also welcome the maintenance of piano lessons and regular practicing as a source of structure and routine for their kids, given the cancellation of most extracurricular activities. More to follow on this option next week, but I wanted to put the idea out there now for your consideration. I know this is an incredibly stressful time for everyone and I hope you’re all taking care. Thank you. Elizabeth

Hello everyone! This is a non-piano lesson post and is instead related to my day job! If you have an interest in mental health and learning how to talk about suicide with someone you’re concerned for, join us at Magaguadavic Place next month for safeTALK training! I’m excited to be bringing this important program to St. George. Please help us spread the word!
Hello everyone! Just a reminder that if you don’t feel you can safely make it to piano when the weather is bad there’s no penalty to cancel. Please do be sure to let me know if you’re not coming, either by text or phone (754-6298) or email ([email protected]). Thank you!
Happy new year! Here are the dates for 2020 lessons.
Huge thanks to performers and all who came to watch our annual recital Tuesday night. In addition to many non-perishable food item donations we raised $133.00 for the St George & Area Food Bank! We’re grateful to Sea View Church for hosting us again this year and giving students the chance to play in a truly beautiful space. Merry Christmas everyone, and see you in 2020 (Jan. 5 & 6)!
Hello everyone! I look forward to seeing you at the recital tomorrow evening, rain or shine (or snow)! The recital will run as scheduled regardless of whether school is cancelled. A reminder that we will be once again accepting monetary donations to the St. George Food Bank on behalf of the church, with appreciation for them giving us the space to hold our recital. Don’t forget to double check that students have the necessary piano book(s) with them. If you have any questions please email me or call/text at 754-6298. Thank you and see you soon!
It's that time of year again! Our annual recital will take place at beautiful Sea View Church in Back Bay on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30 p.m. As always, we'll be accepting donations for the St George & Area Food Bank. Looking forward to seeing you there!
