Encaustic painting is a mixed media technique that involves using heated beeswax to which pigments have been added. The liquid/paste is then applied to a surface. "I was making pieces based on the elements (fire, water, earth, air, and aether) and for a representation of the element Earth I choose to use colour as a jumping off point. I went with greens and I purposefully named it with a word that is closely associated with the colour. When greed and green are paired together the implication is money and commodity, then mix that with images of flora and fauna and I think it creates an interesting study for the viewer.
