Pre Order Your Flocked Christmas Tree These real, freshly cut trees have been covered with an artificial snow to make them look like they just received a fresh dusting of powder on the mountain. The flocking is non-toxic and not harmful to humans or animals! In addition to being safe for your home, it’s also a natural fire retardant and helps to extend the life of your tree by improving needle retention. For easy transport to your home, we wrap trees in clear plastic tubing... to help protect it from the elements. We recommend leaving the tree wrapped in plastic for protection while moving it inside, however, do not store the tree in plastic for any length of time. When you visit our Nursery you’ll find a large table on the border of our Courtyard that is always changing with the seasons. Currently, you can find a beautiful array of fall berries and textures. The soft corduroy textures of the bud blooming heather a.k.a. the Calluna, the glossy leaves and red berries of Skimmia japonica and the soft blue/green tones of the blossoms. This array of textures and colours will kick start your seasonal landscape designs. - 1. Wintergreen - Gau...ltheria Evergreen with oval, lustrous green leaves turning reddish in cold weather. Pinkish-white flowers springs-summer followed by scarlet fruit. Blooms May to August. Grows 15cm tall by 60cm wide. Used as ground cover. 2. Massachusetts - Kinnikinnick Prostrate evergreen shrub with glossy, green, leathery leaves turning reddish in winter. Pinkish white spring flowers are followed by red berries that attract birds. Blooms April to May. Grows 15-30cm tall, spreads 90-180cm wide. Ground cover, trailing on walls and hillsides. 3. Skimia Reevesiana Narrow dark green leaves, compact and slow growing. White flowers in spring, followed by red berries. Grows 2' tall x 2.5 - 3' wide. Part sun to shade. Zones 7-9. 4. Gold Pillar Monterey Cypress Grow this narrowly conical Cypress in full sun for the best leaf colour. Its outside leaves are golden and the inside leaves are yellow-tinted. Leaves are yellow-green in partial shade. Tolerates coastal climate. Grows 20' high x 10' wide. Zones 8-10. 5. Irish Yew by Monrovia Landscape uses for this conifer are for hedges, mass planting, privacy screens, specimen, woodland garden, topiary and wildlife garden. Slow growing, reaches 15' to 30' tall, 4' to 8' wide.

This Halloween is a Saturday and we have fun activities happening here at our Nursery during the day! FALL RECIPE: DELICATA MAPLE ROASTED SQUASH 2 Delicata Squash sliced in half and seeded. HOW TO: Thanksgiving Fall Harvest Table Design Bring elements of your Fall garden to your table this Thanksgiving season. Keep it simple, fun and low. Although dramatic tall bouquets are spectacular to look at, it creates a barrier for conversation so it is best to lay low and horizontal. 1. Preset your table with the number of table settings you will need as well as platters if you will be serving directly from your table. 2. Take a moment to look at the space you have ava...ilable to work with. If it works for your table, consider starting with a fabric runner or create your own with patchwork of beautiful Fall leaves. 3. Choose your theme and keep your amount of colours minimal. Consider three to four complimentary Fall colours to work with. As pictured, creamy white, apricot, burgundy with a pop of green. This is one of the many beautiful colour combinations you can work with. 4. It’s time to harvest! The evening before, but better yet if you have time, the morning of, collect your leaves and flowers, give the leaves a rinse and allow to dry on paper towel. 5. Now comes the fun part! Assemble your display with your own creative style. Add a pop of Fall flare with eucalyptus, small gourds, mini pumpkins, lanterns, LED candles, twinkle lights to name a few which we all have available here at our Nursery. 6. As October begins and Fall is well underway, Michele can be found at the back end of our outdoor Nursery tending to our beautiful display of various topiary trees. Now that the weather has cooled down a bit, it's the perfect time to give these trees their regular pruning. Follow Michele from start to finish as she shows and shares from her heart, one of her greatest passions and talents! Today's video gives you a quick tour of a few of our selections and then we dive right into what tools and techniques you need to achieve this spiral topiary look.

Create Your Pumpkin Planter with Art’s Nursery 1. Visit our Pop Up Pumpkin Patch and pick the perfect pumpkin. Consider a pumpkin that will allow for a wide opening at the top so you can fit your plantings inside. 2. Choose a colour theme when selecting your plants, grasses and/or succulents with an eye to where they will be placed in your pumpkin planter when it comes time to assemble it. ... 3. Some festive Fall colour combinations to consider with a classic orange pumpkin are a. Silver, Blue Gray (succulents) b. Chartreuse Green and purple (carex everillo grass and pansies) 4. Some festive Fall colour combinations to consider with white pumpkin are: a. Dramatic black mondo grass with succulents b. White and red berry winter green with black mondo grass or bud blooming heather 5. Cut open your pumpkin, remove seeds and inside stringy flesh, place dirt in pumpkin, transplant your fall plant features. These are fall design ideas to get you started. We encourage you to get creative and choose your own colour and texture combinations with live or cut flower combinations and send us a picture of what you put together! Note: Do keep in mind, once the pumpkin has been cut they will last about 3 days. If you keep it in a cool area and line the inside of the pumpkin with a plastic pot or Ziploc bag, it may last a little longer.

Sharon just joined Art’s this spring, although she has worked in the plant world for many years. What a year to join us and we are so happy she did! Helping us with everything from the front customer experience, shipping and anything else that we may ask, she is such a team player. We love her passion for this industry, and the great smile she brings along with it! Pictured here, is Sharon with our Cotoneaster Shrub franchetii. She already has one at home and is planning on g...etting another one to grow against a wall in her yard. The grey to silvery-grey, round leaves show off the attractive early summer clusters, of white flowers, which are followed by round orange-red fruits in late summer, early autumn. Useful for planting as a specimen or emasse as a a screen. Can be trained into a small tree with time. If planted 1m (3ft) apart in a single line can make an attractive informal or formal hedge. Suitable for: Tolerates full sun to medium shade on a wide range of soil conditions, except extremely wet or dry. Very hardy. Height and Spread in 10 years: 3m x 3m (10ft x 10ft). Planting: Soak the rootball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the rootball or pot. mix an organic soil improver and general fertilizer with the infill soil. Water regularly until established. Care: Normally requires no pruning, other than the removal of the occasional dead shoot or branch.
