Introducing artists from the Our Artspace(s) publication: Jordan Stranger Eagle Love 2 x 7’x10’ murals, latex paint, plywood, 2020... Covid19 has impacted all of us and it was important not to forget about the homeless and those less fortunate. With permission from homeowners I painted their garage doors with images of eagles. They then agreed to donate all proceeds of payment to the Main Street Project. My intentions were to spread love and positive energy around the city of Winnipeg in these times of need. This was a very positive experience with neighbours and passersby alike stopping by to thank me and the homeowners for our efforts. With this project I hope that the good energy we put out will find those who need it most. Find Jordan’s work and more in the Our Artspace(s) fundraising publication. Introducing artists from the Our Artspace(s) publication: Lesley Nakonechny Watching the Curve 2 Long exposure pinhole photography, photo paper; camera made from tin can, 17.6 x 11, 2020... Over the years, I have been fascinated with various branches of alternative photography techniques. Most recently, I’ve been exploring long exposure pinhole photography, captured by means of handmade cameras (usually out of some sort of tea, cookie or candy tin). I find the wide angles, warped perspectives, and the do it-yourself ethic of pinhole appealing. While working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to hang several pinhole cameras in my backyard. Partly, for something to keep busy with, but I also felt it was a documentation of time passing. This particular piece was hung on my laundry line for a couple weeks, aimed upwards at the sun, taken down on World Pinhole Photography Day, April 26. Find Lesleys work and more in the Our Artspace(s) fundraising publication. Available through the Artspace website!

Check out this interview with local artist Chase Martin in conversation with La Maison Des Artistes Visuels! We were lucky to have Chase contribute to the Our Artspace(s) fundraiser publication, and love to see and hear (en français) what our community is making! https://www.youtube.com/watch

It’s an exciting day today in the Artspace office! We received the Our Artspace(s) Fundraiser books from our fabulous printers at Hignell, and got a chance to finally flip through what has become a true labour of love, and celebration of local talent! We want to thank all participating artists first and foremost; your contribution has made this project possible! (Image 2 features @artzbyfatima , one of our featured artists). Another big thanks to our printers, Hignell Book... Printing. Their great customer service and printing knowledge made our intro to the world of book making an enjoyable one! A thank you to our fundraising committee, and lastly, a huge thank you to The Johnson Group for their generous support! Order your copy today by visiting our website, or, if you have pre-purchased or are expecting a copy, keep an eye on both your inbox, or your mailbox! See more
