Covid has been a difficult challenge for non profit organizations to manage, and ASAC has not been spared. Sadly, in order to be able to preserve our ability to continue supporting our members, we have made the difficult decision to close our physical space at the end of March. We will be pivoting to virtual resources, and our board members are tirelessly working towards finding new ways to make sure alternative births choices are available to Albertans. In preparation of... our move we will be selling our books and furniture in the office. We have many parenting and pregnancy books that we will be selling for $5/each and are inviting individuals to make 15 minute appointments to come into the office for a ‘book sale’ at the office on February 6-7. To make an appointment, email Kelsey at [email protected]. We also have many past birth issues available for pickup that same weekend as well. Our virtual Birth & Baby Talks have been a huge hit, with exponentially more visitors than our in person events have had in the past, and these will continue into the Spring, so follow along for more dates to come soon. Birth Issues magazine will not be affected, and we hope to offer more accessible options for our readers.

A word after a word after a word is power. ~ Margaret Atwood Since announcing that we’re writing an anthology of perinatal mental health stories, we have bee...n overwhelmed with your support and responses. We knew you’d step up to the plate and help us with this project like you always do because we are all in this together to help others know they aren’t alone on this journey. You don’t have to be a writer like Margaret Atwood to have your story published in our anthology. But she’s right when she says words have power. Your story can be a beacon of hope for another going through postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder or psychosis. Just start with one word and then add another and another until you’ve written your story, a story that matters and has the power to heal. Submissions due Dec. 10th. https://cpmhc.ca//get-your-perinatal-mental-health-story-/ See more
