A Stones Throw RV Campground

We LOVE our peonies flowers! We have just discovered this ourselves so we have not tried it yet be we sure will 2021!!!

We have had an incredible year developing A Stones Throw RV Campground out of a wheat field! So much has been accomplished and we are well into 2021 having half of our fire pits created! With that done we are next making Benches and Site Signs which are great indoor activities while the snow fly’s :)

We received our first snowfall yesterday morning at A Stones Throw RV Campground. We got looking at our white board (no pun intended) where we have listed all of our To-Do’s until May 2022 which is when we open our doors! For Dad and I it’s hard to see the progress when your kicking dirt all day but looking back at what we’ve accomplished it’s pretty darn neat! To date we have: - Survey of development completed. - Excavation of all 50’ x 92’ sites and 8 green spaces is final...ly done. - Sites are packed and levelled with electrical trenching nearly complete. - Pedestals with 15 and 30 amp power have been ordered. - Fire pits have been cut to length. - Purchased a CSA approved playground for 2-5 year olds. - We have cut trenches 8’ deep and laid our water lines for irrigation and washhouse facilities. - Remuda Building has completed our two washhouses and store/office (jeez they look sharp!). - Both of the Off-Leash Dog Parks have their mini-mountains for King of the Hill. - Reservoir is stocked and aerated thanks to Smoky Trout Farm. - Southern Irrigation in Lethbridge has given us a fantastic plan to keep everything green :) - Astronomy area has been designated. - Community Garden now has a location (with irrigation). What’s Next? - Plant Trees, Bushes, and Perennials! - Design course for Kids Bike Park. - Complete Electrical to all sites and buildings. - Lay out drip irrigation system. - Gravel Sites and Roads. - Mulch between green areas. - Designate Guest Site locations. - Design Low-Impact Exercise Circuit around campground. - Lay out Deer Fence. - Gravel Walking Trails around reservoir. With the help of the whole family we have achieved so much this year and we’re not slowing down! What do you do on rainy days? We thought why not pull the fence posts where the Deer Fence is going!? Always things to do rain or shine! What made the experience really special was that several pairs of Barn & Tree Swallows were swooping all around us in the rain together. The tractor was disturbing bugs in the tall grass and the Swallows went nuts! Really turned a drizzly job into a magical moment, I couldn't help but smile while pulling each post, before I knew it we were ...done :) Take Care! When was the last time you did something completely new? This week we started to remove top soil from our campsites and I have never worked in a machine like this in my life! It's so COOL!!! Already we have given the Skid Steer (which I will now refer to as "Bart") a solid 50 Hours which means some first time servicing! Check out how the whole cab flips up! Crazy! #astonesthrowrv

What a day! At 10:00 am today we completed surveying ALL 173 sites with 30 & 15 amp Power Pedestals!!! As we are working with the natural topography of the land we have discovered some sites might not be in the best location... and others can be made bigger! Big shout out to our cousin for seeding Durum Wheat in our future Off-Leash Dog Park while we develop this year! Here is a photo looking out on the West view of the campground overlooking our beautiful prairie, the neighbours cows are just about done calving. Let me know if this has happened to you?! I was putting on some Summer Tires and found a nail in one of them! Must have been a SLOW leak!? We called up Arrowwood Co-op and they had four tires that suited us just fine. A short scenic drive later I had fantastic service from Kurtis and Shane while rocking out to Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Rage, Sound Garden to name a few. Maybe an hour later Kurtis insisted I took it out for a spin and come in for a double-check on the torque.... Safety First, proper Social Distancing with gloves and hand-sanitizer at the door, what else could you ask for? Oh ya, and a great price! We are so lucky only being a 5 minutes drive away from the Town of Milo! We had a fantastic Chinese Food Feast take-out, very clean and practicing Social Distancing very well! We are pleased to hear that those who love the outdoors will soon be able to stretch their legs while still prioritizing public health and s...afety! With the arrival of warm weather we will soon get our boots on the ground and start developing our campground, nice to be outside and productive! Our near city lot sized sites will have over 13 feet of landscaped trees and bushes between your site your neighbours.
