Asylum Windsor

So, Ontario is phase 3. What does that mean for Asylum? Not much yet, honestly. Indoor capacity is limited to the number of people who can maintain a physical distance of two metres, with a maximum capacity of 25% indoors or 250 people (whichever is less) for Food or drink establishments with dance facilities. Villains being a bar, and Asylum being a DJd event, it does appear that we fall into this category. 25% capacity, with social distancing, let's be honest that isn...'t much to work with. I am interested in an outdoor event if it can be accomplished, since the regulations are a bit looser for outdoors. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any place that would allow us to do a one-off outdoor event, that also either has a liquor license or a special event liquor license. I'm open to ideas. -Raev

Theydies and Gentlethem, It's inevitable that the day will come, hopefully sooner than later, where it is finally safe to resume Asylum nights. What I need to know from you, the attendees, is what feedback you have. What can we do better? Are we trying to do too much? Not enough? I'd really like to hear your thoughts.... The next Asylum obviously can't be scheduled yet, but we will return and want to come back better.

So. Something is coming. Asylum is working on concepts for a couple of streaming events. One in hopes of providing entertainment while trying to help support people in the arts and live entertainment worlds suffering under Covid restrictions.... A second being a Halloween event. Stay tuned.

As much of Ontario slowly crawls toward reopening, it's inevitable that Windsor Essex will as well. As much as I miss you all, the art, the music, the hugs, the laughs, the smiles, the new friends...well, we are named Asylum not in reference to a Sanitarium, but instead as a place of safety and refuge for all who choose to be among us. As such, it would be irresponsible to name ourselves after safety, and then resume activity prematurely.... We want you to be safe. We want to leave things better than we found them. Hence, community donations after every event. We love you all. We miss you. I drive by Villains sometimes and look at it from the car longingly. However, we won't needlessly risk a single one of you. We will return. We were just getting going. We just can't tell you when. -Raev/Jon
