May 2021 be kind to all of us. Happy New Year to all - Shirley & Darcy
Thanks Blair Jean Author Historian for sharing this with us. Very interesting. (the ad is from 1913)
It's a bluebird sky day reflecting on the snow, and the hoar frost is glittering like diamonds - perfect day for a walk, and a camera... <3
Singing a love song......
"Rut's On" Grand Rapids Wilderness Adventures Athabasca. Alberta. CAN.
Caught this young fella romancing a couple of gals on the bush line. Seems they are holding out for Mr. Right.

Northern Boreal. Bull Moose (Alces alces) Athabasca River. Grand Rapids Wilderness Adventures
Our timing was impecable in order to observe these beautful creatures traversing the river, not far from our back country lodge. WE LOVE THE NORTHERN BOREAL!
Just because you will be travelling over 120 miles deep into the wilderness, where there are no roads and the only means of travel is by river, doesn't mean that you shouldn't be comfortable. Forget Glamping.........this is Comfort Camping at its finest.
Our well maintained rustic log cabins provide a comfort camping experience, that everyone can enjoy. Grand Rapids Wilderness Adventures
We had the extreme pleasure of capturing this very rare occurrence on our last trip down to the lodge. Although we knew that these apex predators (Cougar/Mountain Lion) call the Athabasca River Valley their home. (We have come across their tracks on occasion, and were fortunate to catch them once on a trail cam at the lodge site) This time however, is the first time in over 25 years that we have actually seen them and been able to view them at such a close distance, and swimming, no less. WE LOVE THE NORTHERN BOREAL!
Such an amazing moment to be face to face with this wonderful creature (we were NOT social distancing) One step closer and I would have been able to feel the softness of the feathers...my heart is still pounding.. <3 P.S. see the mouse?...
Catching a bit of sun on her back on this windy day <3
Foggy mornings of early autumn have an ethereal quality about them. Always wondering what lies behind the mist... <3
