In our 20th Anniversary season, we'd like to take a look back into how it all began and share our story with you... In June of 2001, Susan Chalmers-Gauvin, a Policy Consultant in Health and Social Services and Igor Dobrovolskiy, a new immigrant to Canada from Ukraine, met for coffee. On that day, with an idea and a blank piece of paper, they opened a P. O. Box. Nine months later their creative adventure began. In February 2002 Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada (now Atlantic ...Ballet Atlantique Canada) opened the doors of its new studio with artists from around the world. The world premiere of a new ballet, FIGARO, opened on May 11th, 2002 at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton, New Brunswick. Atlantic Ballet began. ____ Dans notre saison du 20e anniversaire, nous aimerions revenir sur la façon dont tout a commencé et partager notre histoire avec vous... En juin 2001, Susan Chalmers-Gauvin, consultante en politiques en santé et services sociaux et Igor Dobrovolskiy, un nouvel immigrant au Canada en provenance d'Ukraine, se sont rencontrés pour prendre un café. Ce jour-là, avec une idée et une feuille de papier vierge, ils ont ouvert une boîte postale. Neuf mois plus tard, leur aventure créative a commencé. Atlantic Ballet’s Artist in Residence Program aims to assist dance professionals in developing new work, and promoting dance to new audiences. Our program provides studio space, technical and administrative support. Each artist in residence is presented by the Atlantic Ballet as part of its season. We look forward to showcasing our work with our current artist in residence, Possesom Paul, pictured above with our Artistic Director, Igor Dobrovolskiy, and Wolastoqi singer and c...omposer Jeremy Dutcher. Today, they are in the middle of a 10-day creative process, and we are loving their energy so far! ____ Le programme d'artiste en résidence de l'Atlantic Ballet vise à aider les professionnels de la danse à développer de nouvelles œuvres et à promouvoir la danse auprès de nouveaux publics. Notre programme fournit un espace de studio, un soutien technique et administratif. Chaque artiste en résidence est présenté par le Ballet de l'Atlantique dans le cadre de sa saison. Nous sommes impatients de présenter notre travail avec notre artiste en résidence actuel, Possesom Paul, photographié ci-dessus avec notre directeur artistique, Igor Dobrovolskiy, et le chanteur et compositeur Wolastoqi Jeremy Dutcher. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and today we look back to 2011 to the premiere of the ballet Ghosts of Violence, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. The emotionally charged work, which was inspired by the women who have lost their lives at the hands of an intimate partner, has since toured Canadian communities and schools through its Celebrate Courage program. National partners included the Canadian Association of Social Workers, Canadian Nurses Association a...nd the RCMP along with over 300 front-line service organizations in 9 provinces. Today and every day we choose to tackle important societal issues within our work to bring awareness to causes that are important to us. #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth Octobre est le mois de la sensibilisation à la violence familiale et aujourd'hui, nous regardons en arrière en 2011 avec la première du ballet Ghosts of Violence, au Centre National des Arts à Ottawa. L'œuvre chargée d'émotion, inspirée par les femmes qui ont perdu la vie aux mains d'un partenaire intime, a depuis fait le tour des communautés et des écoles canadiennes dans le cadre de son programme célébrer le courage. Les partenaires nationaux comprenaient l'Association canadienne des travailleurs sociaux, l'association des infirmières et infirmiers du Canada et la GRC ainsi que plus de 300 organisation de services de première ligne dans 9 provinces. Aujourd'hui et chaque jour, nous choisissons de nous attaquer à des problèmes de société importants dans le cadre de notre travail pour sensibiliser aux causes qui nous tiennent à cœur.

En 2016, nous avons coprésenté The Red Crowned Crane du Théâtre de chant et de danse de Wuxi, en Chine, avec l’Association culturelle chinoise du Grand Moncton. À l’automne 2019, nous avons eu le privilège d’établir un autre partenariat pour présenter le magnifique Seeking. Deux soirées magiques dont nous pouvons nous souvenir aujourd’hui! Ce dimanche ne manquez pas l’Entracte avec Sean Song, président de l’ACCGM qui nous parlera des divers partenariats entre l’Association et le Ballet. La présentation comprendra des extraits de Seeking, une soirée mémorable au Théâtre Capitol Theatre de Moncton.

Introducing | The Red Shawl Campaign November is Family Violence Prevention Month, we would like to recognize the work of the Red Shawl Campaign and other organizations that promote education and awareness programs of family violence. In 2011, we premiered Ghosts of Violence, joining the fight against intimate partner violence. In 2016 we were invited by Elder Imelda Perley and the Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre to partner on the Red Shawl Campaign to raise awareness of the missi...ng and murdered indigenous women. Indigenous advocate, artist and business woman, and Board member, Natasha Martin-Mitchell, talks about the Campaign and her collaborative experience with Atlantic Ballet. . Novembre est le mois de prévention de la violence familiale. Nous souhaitons souligner le travail effectué par la campagne du foulard rouge et les organismes qui continuent de promouvoir l'éducation et les programmes de sensibilisation pour contrer la violence familiale. En 2011, nous avons inauguré Ombres de violence afin de rejoindre la lutte contre la violence aux mains d'un partenaire intime. En 2016, nous avons accepté l'invitation de l’ancienne Imelda Perley et du centre Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey pour participer à la campagne du foulard rouge. Ce partenariat vise à sensibiliser le public à la triste réalité des femmes autochtones disparues et assassinées.
