It's been a lot of work by a lot of great people, and the response has been amazing! We have more exciting news - we'd like announce that we're now operating out of 2 new bases! In addition to our main base in Vernon (CYVK) you can now train or rent aircraft out of Kelowna (CYLW) or starting March 1st, Kamloops (CYKA)! We have increased our fleet to 9 aircraft, all 172s and a Piper PA30 Twin, to accommodate the addition of Kamloops. Experienced instructors can help with your Private, Commercial, Instructor, Multi, IFR, Night, or VFR OTT. Send me a DM if you want more info on training or a rental check-out (www.auroraaviationacademy.com)
Nope, size doesn't matter...I still love our Cessna 172 (FHIY). But it's pretty cool to share the Apron at CYLW Kelowna with this guy!
Pleased to welcome the two newest members of the fleet! Say hello to FFOH and GGZL, brought in from Quebec and Edmonton. The fleet is 7 aircraft strong...big news coming in January, stay tuned!
We're growing!! Welcome to Mike McGinty, our new addition to the instructor team. Keeping with our trend, we want as many experienced instructors as possible. Mike brings military flight and instructing experience to the team. Welcome Mike!
Let the winter Ops begin!!
Hi there...I've attached the schedule for the next Aurora Aviation Academy Online Video ground school, facilitated by instructors. We would like to invite any BCGA or Alberta GA members to join. There is no charge to sit-in on the classes, which run Monday and Wednesday nights at 7pm. It's a great way to get a refresher on all ground school topics! If you need to log these hours for a TC ground school requirement or need a recommendation letter for a written exam, then of... course, you'll have to register and pay for the class, but otherwise, please feel free to join us! Just send me a PM with your email and I'll add you to the invite list. Look forward to seeing you online!
Happy 16th Birthday Kensie! License signed off and ready to fly! CONGRATS!

Congrats Hamad on crushing your Private Pilot flight test! Great compliments from the examiner, nice work!
Don’t let the long daylight hours keep you from gorgeous night flights! Plan ahead, stay current and proficient while enjoying different types of flying! Make time for some night flying, its awesome!
Please join us in welcoming Ryan Berryman and Cam Law to our Aurora Aviation Family! We’re proud and excited to bring on instructors of their caliber and experience. They’ll be instructing both Single-Engine and Multi/IFR training. Their time with the airlines and combined thousands of hours of instruction bring a lot to the team and to our pilots-in-training. Welcome Aboard!
Proud to be part of the Snowbirds Memorial flyover today. Thoughts and prayers to the friends and families of Capt. Casey and all the best for a speedy recovery to Capt. MacDougall. Thanks to Trevor of Kelowna for coordinating this event, and thanks to YLW tower for their great work - awesome job everyone!
Congratulations to Klint for completing his first solo flight today!
We'd like to welcome Kim to the Aurora Aviation family! Kim begins her career at Aurora Aviation Academy as Operations and Admin Assistant while completing her Instructor Rating, then moving into flight instruction. She brings so much to the team and we're excited to have her on-board. Welcome Kim!!!
Friendly reminder about another free-access video ground school tonight at 7pm. We will be chatting about Radio Navigation. Even though most of us are using tablets or GPS, we'll review airways, tracking in-bound and out-bound, and more, so still a lot of good content to review. Everyone is welcome! Send us a PM with your email if you would like to join us! If you have already requested to join (i.e. last week), you'll get an invitation automatically this week.
With flying hours reduced due to COVID19, lots of aircraft are parked. Are you parking outside? Do you have a pitot cover? If not, better get one! Our AMO was working on a customer aircraft and found this inside the Pitot tube. Not a complete blockage but the bugs, dust and dirt removed was pretty surprising! What other surprises have you found parking outside? How did you protect yourself against it?
