On April 30th, 2020, the Province of Manitoba and Manitoba Health announced its plan for a phased approach to re-opening some services and businesses, including dental clinics. While we are enthusiastic to re-open and welcome you back, our goal is to ensure safety and protection for everyone. Phase 1 of the plan begins on May 4th, 2020, we need to assure that our clinic is prepared and has the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) according to the recommended guidelines set by our governing body, the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA). At this time, the provision of dentistry may now include emergency and urgent dental care. Furthermore, the MDA is strongly recommending that all non-urgent and elective dental services provided in person remain suspended until further notice to minimize production of aerosols. In addition, the ability to re-open will depend on the availability of the above mentioned equipment and equipping our facility with the most-up-to-date information regarding minimizing the risk of any disease transmission. In the meantime, we continue to look forward to speaking with every one of you with any concerns that may arise. In December 2019, a novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19) was confirmed. The situation continues to evolve, with COVID-19 cases reported all throughout the world. The risk of COVID-19 to Canadians is low at this time; however the COVID-19 event continues to be a fluid situation. As of Monday March 23rd, 2020, Avenue Dental is taking proactive measures to help reduce the impact... of COVID-19 by temporarily not scheduling any non-essential and elective dental services as per recommendations from Manitoba Dental Association regulatory body as well as Manitoba Health, Shared Health and Health Canada.
