The first course for "Introduction to the World of Aircraft Maintenance" will be held from Monday October 26 to Friday October 30, 2020, 0900 - 1530 daily. Although preferred, due to Ontario restrictions, in-class courses will have to be restricted to 10 persons maximum. Online courses will be kept to 20 persons maximum to ensure a better learning experience for participants. Depending on the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) registration numbers the decision for in-class or online ...training will be made. I am pleased to announce that after more than 2 years in the making, the 1 week "Introduction to the World of Aircraft Maintenance" course is now complete! Who can benefit from the course?... 1. New hires in maintenance. It is primarily designed with them in mind. 2. People who think they are interested in Aircraft Maintenance but are not aware of what it all entails. 3. Aviation Enthusiasts, who just love aircraft and want to know what happens behind the scenes. 4. People already in maintenance who want to explore other areas in maintenance to work in, but are not sure what they do. 5. Supervisors and Managers who want familiarization with other working groups within maintenance. What is included? 5 days of intense, interactive learning that includes: 1. How maintenance is performed, Manuals used, Tooling required. 2. A description of all the systems on aircraft, using the Air Transport Association of America (ATA) 100 system to navigate through them. 3. A description of every department and job description associated with maintenance. 4. Bonus classes and/or a Guest speaker to choose from if time permits. Over the past 2 and a half years, I have been working on a 1 week introductory course in Aircraft Maintenance. I am pleased to say that it is almost complete. At the end of August I will publish more on this. Even though I began working on this long before the current pandemic, the information is and always will be valid. It is based on my 37+ years in many different aspects of aircraft maintenance along with the input of many and varied industry professionals in the field i...n various parts of the world. It is designed to be a 1 week continuous course or it can be broken down into modules of your preference. It is also inspired by the fact that many of us go into the aircraft maintenance department in our own area or expertise and not realize the global effect of our job as well as what others do. If we all knew more at the beginning, we could be so much more efficient and respectful of each other's responsibilities. Having had the privilege of actually professionally performing 7 different roles within aircraft maintenance, I wish I knew then what I know now, so why not share and help others to be efficient right from the start.
