September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. For all people, it annually marks the impact of Residential Schools on Indigenous peoples. For followers of Jesus in partic...ular, it reminds us to also consider how the church can lose its way and ultimately work against our call to be agents of healing and restoration in the world. As a follower of Jesus and a member of the EMCC family, we invite you to take part in an opportunity to meaningfully engage with the history of Canada’s relationship to Indigenous peoples. Today is a day to collectively observe the impact of Residential schools upon Indigenous peoples, lamenting together the church’s involvement, and imagining a new way of walking together with Indigenous peoples of Canada. Stayner Camp family, friends and supporters, we desperately need your help. As you may know we have recently learned that our beautiful tabernacle building need...s a new roof ASAP. The project runs from September 28 to October 3. We need your help in these three areas. 1) We need several volunteers with valid Working at Heights certification to help unload shingles on September 25 as well as help on the roof the week of September 28. 2) We really need your financial help for this project. We have put together bundles that you can sponsor for $50 per bundle. 270 bundles will completely cover the cost of all materials needed for this project. We are nowhere near our goal at this time! 3) We need volunteers for on the ground to help with shingle cleanup and material supply for people on roof. We can offer a lodge room to our volunteers needing overnight accommodations. Coffee breaks and lunches supplied Sept. 28 thru Oct. 3.
